2nd printing

How long has the MGT 2nd printing been out?
One week ago I received my copy of the core rulebook from
Amazon.ca and got a 1st printing.

I was wondering if it was still common to receive first printing from online retailers.

I also got the first printing, a bummer. I really thought i would get the second edition, however the gamestore i bought from sent me the first one. Oh well, its a great game anyway. :)

Whats the most obvious way to look and tell which printing you have?

Copied from another thread:

Quickest way I found to differentiate them was to flip to the "Agent" character creation on pages 10-11 and look at the sketches. Old book on pg. 11 has 3 sketches of agents a the top, one on the left has a riot shield and futuristic club. New edition has two agents on pg. 10 and one on pg. 11, all of much better quality. Pg. 11 is a "man in black" with sunglasses.

Yeah, I just got mine from Amazon.co.uk and got the first printing. What are the differences between 1st and second printing?

Colour me confused, but after checking I seem to have a cersion with the correct deckplans (at least they look more or less the same as the ones in the download, and the scale bar looks about right - 1sq = 1.5 m). The only difference I can see is that the Type R has a 6 meter cargo deck in mine and a 3 meter cargo deck in the replacment? Oh, and the merc cruiser gains a stateroom and drops some cargo in its statblock?

Do i have a 1.5 priniting or something?

That's the second printing. I compared my first printing to the one that came out a few months ago, and it has the old art and the new deckplans. I'm happy with the old art, the new stuff looks better, but female illustrations look like hookers. Thanks for implying the only "entertainer" role a woman can fill is "stripper", Mongoose.

I just took a glance at my new PDF version. I hadn't noticed but you seem to be right. First 5 of 6 I saw were dressed to attract 14 year old male gamers.

Oh well. I liked the art of my Mongoose Conan RPG core book which is much worse. But then, the Conan series of novels had the same sort of art. The RPG followed suit to catch the same look. It was completely appropriate for the setting. Traveller doesn't have the same sort of setting. Perhaps the art was borrowed from the Biker Babes in Spaaaace! RPG?

Edit: But the 2nd edition DOES have much better art overall. Looks way more professional then my 1st edition printed book.

Not arguing that, I just wish I didn't have to choose between a book with so-so art and a book with good art that makes me want to set it on fire. I guess I can hope for a third printing, and in the meantime I just print out the deckplans.

Do pocket edition uses first or second printing art ?

I've similarly ordered online and got first, but i am considering pocket edition as more handy to take out, if it has revised art i would be more tempted.

Amazon is offering me to take it back for a full refund.
The only other place that I know locally that could guarantee me a second printing, will charge me around 20-25$ more.

Is the difference really worth it? Did MG release an errata pdf somewhere?
Thanks.

Which is ironic, because in my last Traveller campaign my wife decided she was going to run a space hooker enetrtainer/wanderer type. Was quite entertaining; she'd use her charms to set up wealthy debutantes in compromising situations and use the data to blackmail them while the team as a whole was investigating whatever "corporate villainy" of the week was going on.

Oh yeah, and she was a biomoded "catgirl"....not an Aslan, just a human with a transgenic refit.

My wife's favorite pastime in gaming, I figured out, was making all the males at the table uncomfortable with flaunted sexuality. Cruel, she is! Makes it hard to be indignant and righteous about stripper art. Which for the record I never thought depicted a stripper until you mentioned it.

Is it the case that all women depicted in any manner provacative must automatically be considered exploited? I was under the impression that the real assertion of the liberation of women was that they took command of their own sexuality, not hide or bury it. But hey, this is probably the wrong forum for such discussion. Hell, the internet itself is probably the wrong forum....!
