Hmm yeah for those races more advanced than the Shadows and Vorlons..........

Nah I wasn't talking about that, I swore I heard it mentioned with minbari scout, maybe I misremember, maybe it was rumor, or maybe it was cut?

As with everything it comes down to choices.

Here the choice is to either make the shadows and Vorlons as hard as they would realistically be and have them impossible to balance against or to make them less powerful than they should be but playable against.

From a game balance position I can perfectly understand why they wouldn't be given a scout, just to put the brakes on the fleet.

But please don't try and claim that they don't have the technological know-how to build them, that's just foolishness!

So please, games designers, be honest with us and tell us which way your going, realistic & unplayable or playable but not the real thing.

Besides, there is something the Vorlon fleet needs more seriously than a scout, nice as one would be, and that is a carrier.

They have (had?) great fighters, but no easy way of getting them to the fight especially with no skirmish choice to work with for points break-downs. something based on a cruiser hull would be nice.

Maybe a light cruiser size ship with a couple of discharge guns instead of the lightning cannon and some fighters. Obviously it should also have carrier & fleet carrier traits.

However it comes back to the same old question of balance vs realism.

We also know that Scouts work differently in 2nd Ed - Beams can not be redirected - so that aspect / problem goes.........it would just mean they have the re rolls and steath breaking abiltiies................ :) and be as good at the latter as some Crusade era EA ships

Vorlons already have scout stealth breaking built-in. No need for dedicated ship to replace their built-in bonus :D

So with beams unable to be redirected, and with Vorlons packing all beam weaponry (providing it stays as is) , all a Scout would do was the potential for a setup and first turn re-roll and the chance to reduce Stealth of 1 target by another 1 (assuming there are not other Nu Funky Scout Powerz added).

Hmm stealth buster and a discharge gun or warship with lightning cannon....
Vorlons alredy have the tech to reduce stealth a bit, so I'll have another Big Gun in case the first does not see through stealth.

However I have herd that there are other roles that scouts perform in e2, which makes them necessary for other ships to do different things. I hope the designers have considered these when deciding if the Vorlons should have a scout.

Interesting that the Shadows do and of course they have Stealth? Also certain EA ships get the +1 and still can have Scouts to assist more. I would have thought a Vorlon Scout with the same ability/ies as the Minbari one would be appropriate? :)

the EA ship was the nemesis, this now goes to the Psi corps fleet.
I've never understood the considerable amount of fuss about a vorlon scout, they have uber beams of death, probably TD, and take a long time to kill unless you can really mob them and not get fried. Shadows on the other hand die quicker, and probably only get a scout because their was a specific scout in the show. I have yet to reall see a compelling argument for the vorlons to have a scout, they don't use them, they are really beyond them, I mean heck, if we go true to form, a vorlon HC should be about 4 levels above a Sharlin.

You're joking!? Psi corps in the Crusade era having that much power! That's crazy! Wait, Psi corps fleet!?

Cheers,

think of it more as EA black ops list. you have all the black ops EA ships like the shadow omega, the nemesis, the hunter experimental, and the psi-corps stuff.
