drakh motherships have carrier 4,now they can take bigger ships into battle
am i right in my way of thinking,i can drop the battle level cruiser and 3 raiders and this still counts as the "4".
in other words it does not matter how many slots a ship takes up,it still only counts as 1 towards the carrier 4 trait ?
it may sound a silly question and self explanatory but the cruiser is 8 slots alone,so 1 for 1 carrier 4 would not be able to drop it in a turn.

Yes the Carrier trait refers to number of ships that can be launched, not the value of those ships. So with carrier 4 you can launch any 4 ships.
