2300 AD Errata

Banded Mongoose
Sorry folks but I think I have spotted some errors, specifically some references to DC.
Page 147
Weapon Offenses
possible jail time (Will Save vs. DC (Law Level x 2))
Not sure what that should be
Page 162
Armoured Long Coat
(Spot vs. DC 20)
Note sure what that should be
Page 176
Airships and Wind Effects
The following table provides DC modifiers for any movement action an airship takes.
Needs a replacement table
Page 261
POWERED LANDING (ATMOSPHERE)
Flight: Pilot vs. DC 12
Landing: Pilot vs. DC 12
I think that should read

Flight: Average Pilot + DEX
Landing: Average Pilot + DEX

Does this mean this book is basically a cut-n-paste job from 2320AD with some D20 to MGT conversion bolted on?

The Map for Kanata is missing. Looks like it should be around page 73, between the maps of Chengdu and Kwangtung.

The whole Kaefer spelling thing has been pointed out before. The very first mention of them is spelled "Kafer"... Several other variations appear too: Kaafer etc.

There appear to be four places where some D20 material slipped through. This is entirely my fault. In some sections of the book, I did reuse information from 2320AD, edited and converted to Mongoose Traveller. The instances of D20 rules appear on pages 147, 162, 176, and 261, and while relatively minor, should not have slipped through. My apologies to everyone.

I'm surprised an entire map was missed, especially since I sent it in. The Kafer/Kaefer/Kaafer thing still puzzles me.

Why?

Humans make mistakes.

If no SOP in which an author reviews and signs off on final pre-press release is in place, such is bound to happen.

Are pensions available in 2300 like in traveller?
I have been doing it that unless specifically stated otherwise character generation is straight out of the Traveller rule book and as 2300 does not state that pensions are not available I have been granting pensions.

Of course if pensions really worked like that I'd be happier as my pension is entirely dependant on the performance of the stock market between now and when I retire (when ever that is).

The Thorez class trader has no crew list.

The Thorez design requires 12 bridge crew and 3 engineering.

The cargo on the Anjou is also short 40 tons, should be 1752.7.

What I've found in the Core Worlds Chapter:

Chapter 1

Page 14: Anomaly on Earth UWP. What does the N stand for between the Tech Level and first Trade code?

Page 20: Population code an order of magnitude lower than population listed for major cities (100,000). Suggest changing UNP to B8998A9-C Ri In 1 6

Page 20: Strike Avalon from list of colonies of America.

Page 21: Population code for Germany implies population of 50,000. Suggest changing UNP to B899748-C Ri In 5 7

Page 23: Entry for Australia does not include Tirane colony.

Page 23: Entry for Azania does not include Joi colony.

Page 24: Population code for Inca Republic is lower than population for major cities. Suggest UNP be changed to C958687-9 Ag 1 2

Page 25: Texas lists Enclave on Kormoran as a colony. This is also done for the UAR so I’m not sure it’s an error. Also, Beta Hydri mistakenly added to list of colonies for Texas.

Page 26: Possible error, UAR lists enclave on Kormoran as a colony.

Page 28: No UNP for Asia. Suggest X87687A-A Hi Ri 3 based on description and information from 2320.

Page 28: No population multipler for Middle East, although

Page 31 or 32: No UWP for Tirane. Based on description, suggest B867977-C In Ri

Page 35: New Canberra population is lower than population for cities. If the intent is to drop the population to 6 million, divide city populations by 10 or increase population exponent to 7.

Page 35: Amaterasu population may be to low: code says 10 million, total population of major cities is 13.6 million, although this may simply be rounding?

Not necessarily errata: no map for Tirane. Personal preference is I'd rather a map of Tirane rather than Earth.

From the Frontier Worlds Chapter:

Page 38: Planetary Adaptation Syndrome. Is the +4 DM apply to all DNA mods or just the one specific to that planet? I’m guessing it’s the latter.

Page 40: No nation tier for Heidelsheimat. Suggest Tier 3.

Page 43: No population multipliers for King colonies. This happens in other entries, but I’m assuming it’s 1 for all the ones without a multiplier.

Page 45: Law codes don’t match between the UWP and UCP for Ellis. This occurs numerous other times in the chapter, and I’m assuming it’s intentional. I’d probably say that the world law level indicates the law level for space stations, star ports, and other “touristy” areas while the colony law level is in effect everywhere else.Suggest 5 as a compromise between the two.

Page 51: No gravity or DNA modification listed for Nibelungen. From the table on page 41, gravity is Low, and I’m guessing that the colonists either have no DNA modification or the standard colonist package.

Page 53: Azanian colony lists number instead of hexadecimal code for tech level. Should be B instead of 11.

Page 54: Kie-Yuma. Incorrect government code in UWP & UCP, listed as 2 (participatory democracy). Shouldn't this be 1 (Corporation)?

Page 57: No trade code for Gerrman colony,on Joi, looking at the other entries I’d say Ag, Ri looks right.

Page 58: Adlerhorst. Incorrect government type code in UWP, should be 7.

Page 60: Typo in Character notes: “Adlerhort" should be Adlerhorst.

Page 61: Dunkelheim. No trade codes for colony. Suggest Po Ni.

Page 66-67: Cold Mountain. Discpreancy in government type code. I’m guessing it should be 4 for both?

Page 80: Not really errata but a suggestion. A map is given for Kormoran, which is also repeated in the Aliens chapter. Suggest in a future .pdf update removing this map & shuffling the others around so as to add the map for Kanata instead.

From Character Creation Chapter:

Page 101: Typo in Scouts description, 3rd paragraph, first sentence: “withi a naval structure” should read “within a naval structure.”

Page 107: Informatics. Need clarification, does this skill mean that the Computers skill is now limited to hacking & programming.

Page 108: Typo in second to last paragraph of character creation example: “anderson” needs to be upper case, and color of letter in .pdf changed from red to black.

Cybernetics and DNA Modifications:

Page 126: Colonist STANDARD modification. This is referred to as “Colonist Core” modification in the Frontier Worlds chapter.

Equipment, Weapons, & Armour Chapter

Page 138: Reference Guide. Description makes reference to Knowledge or Technical skill, perhaps an artifact of D20? Suggest replacing it with “Science or Engineering specialty.”

Page 139: Fuel Station & Fuel Cell. Lists fuel capacities of both as “vol”, an artifact from the d20 version. If memory serves right, 1 vol is equal to a liter in volume or a kilogram of mass. Suggest 10 kilograms or about 140 liters of fuel.

Page 146: Weapon Table. Many weapons have odd-number autofire values, reduce these to the next lowest even number (i.e., 5 becomes 4).

Page 147: Weapon Offenses. Rules from d20 version remain in here: “and possible jail time (Wil Save vs. DC (Law Level * 2))” Suggest replacing bracketed text with (Advocate (Int or Edu) subtracting half law level).

Page 147: Weapon table. Incorrect value for Magazine of M-2 rifle, should be 30.

Page 162-164: Armour. Most armor’s list an “armor check penalty.” I’m assuming this should actually read “Dexterity penalty” in all cases?

I think that should read

Flight: Average Pilot + DEX
Landing: Average Pilot + DEX

For converting DC's from d20, I'd guestimate 10-12 as Average (0), 15 as Difficult (-2), 20 as very difficult (-4), and anything above 20 as Formidable (-6).

Page 54-56

Beta Canum: All colonies are listed as Ri Hi, but all the colonies and the planet have a population of only 7 not 9.

Page 2: The first sentence in the second paragraph indicates that humanity has settled on 32 worlds. The first sentence in the Colonies paragraph indicates 30 worlds. I know that the other two are alien homeworlds, but the discrepancy looks odd. (The last full paragraph on Page 39 indicates 33 worlds.)

Page 12: Sixth line down in the right column, the sentence that starts with "Due to this, however, employment rates..." should probably read UNemployment rates.

Page 30: I'm not sure if this is a typo or not, but the population of Gateway is listed as "over 7,000." Is that low?

Page 36: The end of the first paragraph of Tunghu mentions the Freihafen beanstalk - an artifact from the 2320 entry?

Page 45-46: Hermes and Ellis entries have "Character Modifications" where other colonial entries have "Colonial Notes."

Page 50: Inferno is listed as a planet on the map of the French Arm.

Page 60: Nous Voila has no Colonial Notes.

Page 62: Aurore has no Colonial Notes.

Page 68: Kwangtung and Dukou are not listed on the map of the Chinese Arm.

Page 69: Syuhlahm has no Colonial Notes.

Page 70: The Arabian colony is not indicated on the map of Daikoku.

Page 76: The sidebar entry on the tall frog does not indicate what planet it can be found on.

Page 79-80: There are no Colonial Notes for Kormoran or Stark.

Page 111: The timescale jumps around in the Dolphins timeline. Should 2109 (second paragraph) and 2183 (fifth paragraph) be 2209 and 2283, respectively?

Page 113: Neither Human enclave is indicated on the map of Stark.

That's everything that I noticed. You can kind of tell where I put most of my attention.

Matt/Mongoose, please do up a nice PDF of this in the SAME font and size. I like to, for the more extensive "errors", to cut them out and tape them in over the "error". For the small stuff I just pen or pencil it in.
