2 painted fed frigates

They pretty much look exactly like the battle frigates, so not sure if it is even worth posting a picture but here they are. I still haven't done the blue and phaser parts but oh well. Ready to play none the less.

Looking pretty good. Were you thinking of doing anything withe raised areas behind the bridge?
I am not sure at this time. Been looking at different things to do still. I didn't want to over do to many details so kept some things like that just white with wash and highlight. Makes them stand out. Still want to do the blue but debating how strong I want the blue to be. I want to paint up the heavy cruiser next so been working on the base color white. Not as simple as one might think because of the multiple layers I put on.

What is that raised area behind the bridge anyhow, there is a rectangle and triangle?

Not sure. I think the 2 L shaped areas at the rear of the saucer are part of the impulse engines. Some folk paint them red; I did mine in grey. Scoutdad's decals include a decal for them that outlines the top edges of them I believe. I didn't use those outline decals on my frigates.

The Triangle is the Tractor Beam. I think the square is a Docking Port Hatch but I am not a 100% positive on that one.

Yea I have the decals from them, they are so so tiny and on a raised surface that I will make a go of it later on. The CA has a bigger one, so will be put on that miniature.

Maybe painting the little rectangle yellow may work out, not sure still.

The old painting guide for the frigate does not show the L shapes. Behind the bridge, the triangle is present but no detail colour is shown; the rectangle is not present at all.

The destroyer and heavy cruiser show the rectangle (on the elliptical superstructure, not behind it as on the Starline 2500 frigate) as well as the L shapes. Again, no detail colour is shown, so presumably all these details are supposed to be the same base white as the main hull. The only blue parts are details on the warp pylons which the frigate does not have.

This gallery of the Constitution class cruiser shows some shots of the studio model which has the rectangle behind the bridge painted yellow (with a thin red outline). The L shapes are outlined but not raised, and again are the same colour as the basic hull.

IIRC, that rectangle behind the bridge, on the Constitution-class at least, was a hatch that opened into the two-story physics lab. It is shown on the old Enterprise blueprints from the 70s.

It's a docking port; you can see the airlock beneath it in the sample pdf of ADB's own Frigate deck plans.

(The full version of those plans are in Captain's Log #27, as well as in the Federation sourcebook for Prime Directive.)

To get as good a join as I could, I glued the socket to the area just forward of the impulse engines, as opposed to where the hole was drilled, as I didn't get a good bond sure to the curvature of the area. It sadly obscures the area where the warp core ejection hatch is located, but that can't be helped.
