Afternoon PST all,

I have added up the price columns shown on CRB 1st. ed./MRB p. 115 for both the scout and the seeker to get I guess the new hull price. Next, I applied the 10% discount to the total expecting to match the cost part in Total Tonnage and cost the results of my efforts do not match which means that my maintenance cost (monthly) cost is also off.

For the Scout my calculation of the listed components gives the hull a cost of Cr30,237,000 before including the 10% discount which drops the cost to Cr.27,490,000.

For the Seeker my calculation of the listed components give the hull a cost of Cr.28,908,000 before including the 10% discount which drops the cost to Cr.26,107,200.

Can anyone confirm that my math for the price of the listed components prior to taking a discount are correct?

Yeah, 1st edition.starship section got corrected errata pretty quick. You should download the corrected ones. All of them pretty much had errors.

Hello phavoc, Infojunky, and ShawnDriscoll,

Thank you all for the posts and my apologies for lumping my reply into one post.

I have two copies of MgT Core Rulebook 1st ed. one is the hardcover and the other the PDF. On 2/9/16 I received an email from either Mongoose or DriveThruRPG.com about an update for the Main Rule Book which is CRB 1st ed. without the cover. I have also downloaded the corrected ship datasheets several times, my comparison with the 2/9/16 PDF update shows the same numbers.

I have long suspected that the published common spacecraft or other piece of equipment were constructed with drafts of the rules and not updated to match the copy in the published book after I could not recreate the selected spacecraft using the design rules.

Unfortunately, not being able to match a published design makes me wonder if I properly read and understood the rules in the first place. Of course the feedback on the few designs I've posted on other Traveller or other RPG sites that my costs are off has been an indicator that I am not following the rules helps in making me wonder too.

Again thank you for your posts.

Nice thing about Traveller having a ship design system, for the past 40 or so years I have enjoyed satisfying my curiosity by running the numbers then using what matches the design system of that edition. Game goes smoother and I had fun redesigning.

I like the design systems in Traveller in other RPGs, unfortunately I have yet, with the exception of Renegade Legion, to agree on the final cost in a majority published design I try to recreate. Of course with the new design system coming out my obsession with the 1st ed. is rather silly. Unfortunately, until the new system is available I'm left to using the 1st ed.

Thank your time and point of view.
