If this stuff has already been asked or discussed before, my apologies. I did some searching and couldn't find anything on most of this, especially the 1d6-5% part.
Okay so I'm slowly coaxing my group to take up Traveller as our next game once our current campaigns reach hiatus time, but there's a few things I have a question for.
Firstly is the rule for corporation dividends gained for clan shares in the Aslan book. The specific rule is on page 32, second column, third paragraph up from the bottom.
I get the part about net assets per share spent, but what I don't understand is this 1d6-5% thing. Does this mean that if I roll anything but a natural 6 that the player is now seriously in debt? DO I roll this for each share spent, and add it all up, or ignore any non 6s? Or, is this some typo and it should be more like 1d6 x 0.5 %?
Considering it's in megacredits I'm trieing to make sure of how that works, as one way makes it worthless, and another makes it potentially broken.
Now for my other question(S).
Are there any good pictures of a Hiver I can print out, or at least direct a player to? The one in the core book is a bit meh and I'd like to be able to show them something a bit more descriptive that perhaps shows off the setting a wee bit better.
How, do Hivers talk to other species? A translator unit of some kind?
And finally a question about Battle tenders. More specifically non military mother ships.
I had an idea of making a civilian version of these to use for the mass transport of smaller vessels over vast distances that they normally couldn't cover. They would also server as a kind of mobile monument to a government's power.
If anyone here remembers the Star Drive setting for the Alternity Rules, this is mostly inspired by THe Lighthouse scaled down to fit with this game's different scaling of technology. Most noteably FTL travel work very differently.
Has this been done before, and if so where can I get some quick information on it? Also, would this be somehow upsetting to the themes of the game that seem to encourage an all alone in the night mindset?
I have now forgotten any other question, so please answer away now.
