WOW! Thanx!
Well, if you think about it, the Battle of Midway was fought in an area of around 320 miles by 345 miles, or 110400 square miles. Soo... 1 mile would be 10.56 ([5280 ft/500 ft]/12) inches and that would mean a board for it would have to be 3379.2 inches (281.6 ft) by 3643.2 (303.6 ft). And that would come out to 85493.76 square ft or 1.96 acres (if 1 acre = 43560 square ft).

Hopefully your local farmers like you. Alot.

Realisticly: use a 6 ft x 8 ft table and do the terrain however you want. The point is to enjoy the game and people your playing it with. :D

Note that although the Midway campaign may have covered that large an area, individual battles did not. In fact, since Midway was fought exclusively by aircraft attacking ground installations or surface ships, the actual combat was at much shorter range than an engagement between battleships. Plot the overall campaign on a map. (Maybe similar to the old paper game "Battleships"; you announce your scout planes are in a certain square, your opponent tells you if they find something there. :)) Once forces move into shooting range then you move to the gaming table.

I've put a Midway campaign pack on my website. You may find some useful stuff here:
