I actually really dig the black n white look - i'm one of those people who misses the old Black and white RPG tomes of yore. I also think a lot of the artwork actually looks better and more well suited to Conan in Black and White.
I'd love to see a detailed look at the races of the Hyborian Age myself - Instead of the little blocks of text we get in the rulebooks - a more detailed look at individual features both social and physical. Some nice full color Quilliams paintings of each (or get the Dark Horse guys involved)...
Mine shipped from Amazon.ca last Wednesday (Oct. 10th) and i received it on Friday (Oct. 12). Unfortunately there were some partially seperated pages and some spinal injury involved ;) (to the book, not me).
Problem i have is that when it ships from Amazon, i usually see it within three days (Ordered Shadowrun 4th ed on Friday - got it today!) and Conan 2nd edition is going for 23.98 Canadian! So i'll probably hold out for the time being.
There was an official pen & paper release as well - came on CD's in PDF format with marked copes of Fallout Tactics back in the day.
Also, here the info on the cancelled game, which used the d20 ogl:

I'd buy it.
I believe there was one in development that was killed when interplay sold off the majority of the Fallout rights - there are still coverscans and whatnot floating around.
I never did bother with a 3/3.5 DM's guide. I found it needless. The core rules are all in the Players handbook, and anything else you need you can sort of create from there.
I actually took a peek on ebay.ca and couldn't find jack. It's definitely a book i'd like to have. Not so sure how i feel about the focus being taken off of Arrakis though - the story was called "Dune" for a reason ;).
Well, if the mooks are just a bunch of talentless thugs, have the players roll a few attack rolls - and each successful hit scores them a kill, a miss scores them a parry or a dodge, and a critical fail causes them pain - say, 1D6 damage.
Shouldn't take them too long to cut through a mob of...
I've wanted to play a Dune RPG for years, and had been anxiously awaiting the LUG game when it was first announced (Some of the artwork was beautiful, and really captured the middle east meets sci-fi vibe that i always pictured for Dune).
I think the trick for a successful Dune RPG is to focus...
Just curious as to how many of you folks gamemaster, and how you go about starting a new campaign:
- Do you throw yourself into a game setting and devise an overreaching plot of your own?
- Do you rely on published campaigns or adventure modules?
- Do you actually use the little suggestions...
I'm definitely a little non-plussed at the focus on miniatures - 3/3.5 was bad enough for that in my book - one more piece of clutter to have on the table to pull the player's mind out of the game.
