As Starfinder was only $10 in PDF I picked it up as a curiosity. I'll report back when I have read more but from my initial glance through it does not really seem to address the same target audience as Traveller.

In the example, I think the GM is rolling the bane dice in secret, so is hiding part of the roll in the options presented earlier in the thread.
In MegaTraveller uncertain tasks had both player and GM rolling the task.

Firing 3 rounds for an Auto 3 weapon is certainly a Burst with the rules you indicate. If the player wants full extra attacks go for full Auto - technically uses Auto# x3 rounds (and the RAM GL (at least in the core) only has a 6 round capacity). Either allow the 3 full attacks or...

Some have a duration e.g. Mind link. I imagine the rest last their casting time - as this e.g. Assault is 1D seconds while Probe is 1D minutes.

Is there an intention to create an errata sheet? Currently in my read through I've mainly come across editing irritations (many of which are mentioned in the errata thread).

I decided to wait until I could see a copy in person before picking this up. However I was at the Valhalla wargame show in Farnborough UK today and there was a small Mongoose stand with a copy. So I perused it and purchased a copy.
I'm now aiming to sit down and have an initial...

1. Sorcery: failure loses 1 MP only: p194
2. Divine: falure means spell does not work but may attempt to cast it again later (there are no MPs expended as such in Divine magic): p174
3. Common: not express but as p48 notes that a fumble expends all MPs but the spell still fails it...

I always liked 2300AD in spite of the rules. I've kept all the supplments I bought years ago. All the things that Colin mentions sound good - this is going on my books to buy list.

Based on an old post I utilise an 'Armour Use' skill. For each 1% the character has in the skill he or she negates 1% of the Armour Penalty. The full armour penalty remains for Athletics checks for Swimming or Jumping or for Fatigue tests and some uses of Acrobatics. Characters...

I can categorize myself by what I did with each Traveller edition.
CT - I remember playing it probably in the early '80s. I then bought it but didn't really use it.
MT - much as CT - liked reading it, never really played it.
TNE - ran a few times but struggled with the system...

Page 142 actually gives the duration of air as 5000 person/hours per stateroom. The two week period is for ships without power - a very different proposition. In relation to the OP the statement also applies only to spacecraft so worlds, habitats etc are not covered - presumably...

Started last night by running a prequel to the 1983 (?) Traveller Adventure (having bought MGT last Saturday under pressure from my 17 year old son). May run the first session proper before Christmas. Some details are being altered from the original.
Setting for those who don't...

There is some merit in having an intro booklet - that way people don't waste UKP20 on a book if they don't like it.
I'd agree, however, that a free pdf taster might be better but maybe a mini adventure with pre-gen PCs and rules only for skills and weapons that they and their...
