    Where the heck is ZAMBOULA?!

Every supplement and map in the Mongoose line has it in Turan, practically on the Road of Kings... but if I'm not mistaken, that's completely WRONG! Isn't Zamboula supposed to be MUCH further south... like way down in the middle of the Eastern Desert? Seriously, what would the Stygians and...

    The Hyborian "Ranger" and "Paladin"

I don't think anyone said anything about new core classes. I know I didn't.

    SOLO adventures for Conan

My pleasure :) The GURPS solo adventure based on Queen of the Black Coast was really well done, and many of the potential encounters were straight out of REH's story... though it was also possible to avoid many of the misfortunes that befell the crew of the Tigress and leave the city with a...

    SOLO adventures for Conan

I guess I'm the only Conan fan without a gaming group, if NO ONE else wants solo adventures!

    Conan: Hyrkania and Turan

You're not the only one. Many Conan fans have been clamoring for this book, and with good reason. More than one of REH's stories, plus countless comics and pastiches, were set in Turan/Hyrkania. I for one am surprised Mongoose hasn't done this sourcebook yet, while they've already covered TWO...

    The Hyborian "Ranger" and "Paladin"

There's no need to get queasy here... no one is talking about importing the D&D Paladin into the Conan RPG, or even recreating it. My original point was that if you use the Mystery rules found in Faith & Fervour and apply them to, say, an Aquilonian Soldier, you can create a very interesting...

    The Hyborian "Ranger" and "Paladin"

So true! I also would have liked to see a more "middle ground" code of honor in the game, though I think the "Civilized" code is mostly OK for the Mitraic warrior-priest archtype. A Solomon Kane-like character would need a different code of honor though.

    The Hyborian "Ranger" and "Paladin"

This is not an attempt to recreate the D&D classes in the Conan RPG, but rather a look at the character concepts and how they might fit into the game and the Hyborian setting. I don't have to say much about the Ranger because it's pretty easy to duplicate: add a few levels of Scholar to a...

When you have no one to game with...

That's definitely a new and interesting approach, at least in my book. Alas, I'm not sure that's a good fit for my playing style :( I could do a barbarian in Shadizar, along the lines of what could've happened if young Conan had stayed put, but I don't know how well I could play the "other...

    SOLO adventures for Conan

For those of us who love Conan but don't have a gaming group. We could really use some solo adventures that you can run and play by yourself without a Gamemaster... playing either as Conan himself or a created character. They could be original material, or based on Robert E. Howard's stories...

When you have no one to game with...

Oh yes, I've seen that one before, haha. I suppose with some work it could be converted to Conan and set in Shadizar. But since I don't have a GM to work with, it's a moot point. If only Mongoose could roll out some true solo adventures like these...

When you have no one to game with...

I can't say I agree... I was recently in a Castles & Crusades game via OpenRPG and I was actually glad when the GM pulled the plug. For starters it wasn't a great group or campaign, and I'm a little sick of the magic-saturated D&D brand of fantasy, where fighters are meat shields, wizards are...

When you have no one to game with...

How did that work out? Conan is probably the best RPG for solo or 1-on-1 play, considering the source material. AD&D 2nd Ed had a few class-based 1-on-1 modules; it's not a common style of play, but one I could probably get into. I could probably get into just about any type of campaign...

When you have no one to game with...

how do you get your "Conan fix"? Ever since I was a teenager I've loved the Conan saga. From Robert E. Howard's original stories, to the comics, to the Arnold movies, to pastiches by de Camp, Robert Jordan, and others, and finally the RPG... if it's currently in print, there's a good chance...

[C&C] Conan in Castles & Crusades

Yes, I do remember this... but at the end of the day it all goes out the window when lost hit points have to be recovered with a cleric's cure light/serious/critical wounds spell. Regardless of what Gary Gygax said hit points are supposed to represent, at the end of the day they still fuction...
