    Singularity - musings

I just started running Mysteries of the Ancients, but Singularity sounded interesting (and I wanted to support MgT, of course), so I joined the Kickstarter. For those people who already looked deeper into Singularity: How have you convinced your players to go along working for a mysterious...

Which Skill Check to to use for Sense Motive / Insight?

True :-) I was however more thinking about the Baroness in my current Mysteries of the Ancients campaign. And she definitely does not have Streetwise. So I will continue to use Deception for her (which she has plenty of ...)

Which Skill Check to to use for Sense Motive / Insight?

Many thanks for the ideas, it appears my guess of using Deception wasn't that far off :-) I also would not go with Streetwise, as even very high SOC characters, who would most likely not have Streetwise, should be able to guess when they get lied to.

Which Skill Check to to use for Sense Motive / Insight?

What would be the recommended Skill Check to use to determine whether someone else is telling the truth or lies? That would be the Sense Motive / Insight checks in Pathfinder and D&D. I have been improvising this in Traveller using the "inverse" skills of Deception (INT) and Persuade (INT) but...

Mysteries of the Ancients question (spoiler!)

That's what I figured. One current idea is to have the Captain of Knowledge overhear (by placing a bug?) part of the conversation between Vlen and the PCs where Pagaton is mentioned, and then trying to flaunt his own importance to Omicron by passing on that nugget of information. But we'll see...

Mysteries of the Ancients question (spoiler!)

I am still making my way through the adventure and am really impressed, looking forward to GM this. I have reached the part where the PCs meet Mercedes, and the Glisten Pearl shows up very shortly after. While that makes a nice scene: Is there any in-adventure reason what actually led the...

    Mysteries of the Ancients

    p. 174 "her captain is listed as Master Starfarer Aedhko Ueang. The Travellers may correctly deduce that he is a Vargr." However, the image shown for the good captain on p.180 is clearly a human. The Race in his statblock is "-", as it is for all Glisten Pearl crew.

Mysteries of the Ancients Questions & Comments

OK, that is one possible explanation :-) I'll have a brainstorm on it once I get the chance to actually run the scenario.

    Mysteries of the Ancients

Glisten 2237 is mislabeled on the provided subsector map as "Hell". That name should be "Wurzburg". At the beginning of the text, the ship later known as Garnette is spelled Balevney instead of Baleveny. Page 100: „the ship itself will become irradiated.“ Why is that a problem, could it not be...

Mysteries of the Ancients Questions & Comments

Hi all, I am currently making my way reading through Mysteries, and am extremely impressed. I really forward to mastering this for a group :-) One thing has left me a bit confused at his point (trying to keep the following spoiler-free): Even before beginning the scenario, _why_ is Garnette...
