    New to the game

I would personally recommend getting as many "setting" books as possible- Aquilonia, Argos, Shem, Stygia, the Shadizar box set, the Black Kingdoms. Also, it's good to read the stories, they give flavor and a feel to what certain parts of the Conan "world" are like.

    Other Lands

My posts were based on the Kull of Atlantis stories.

    Other Lands

To expand on my previous post, during the era of Atlantis, Atlantis was a large chain of islands to the west of the mainland. Nearby the island chains of Atlantis were another large chain of islands inhabited by a people called the Picts. The Picts came from the west, that is across the ocean...

    Other Lands

If you read any of the Kull stories, you'll find out that the Picts actually came from the sea FROM the west (AKA the western hemisphere/the Americas).

    Simple wealth rules for Conan.

If you watch the first movie, you can also see (or remember) that he's spending money and giving it away for nothing. Conan's the kind of guy to live it up like a king and buy everyone in the bar a round or two if he's drunk. He may kill you later if you piss him off but he's generous with his...

    The Visitors - "V"

The reason why I said re-look at it for the new "V" is that I"m pretty sure there are a lot of people who don't know about the original "V" in the first place. I just turned 40, it seemed I was a kid when it first came out. If anything, look at both series and wait for the new technology...

    Simple wealth rules for Conan.

Remember that there are money lenders who can serve as "banks" and thieves lurk in taverns looking for heavy ladden travellers. Also, if a merchant is of a different race, they can be biased against a player and raise the price of an item. Plenty of ways to take care of a PC's money.

    Other Lands

I fleshed out the Border Kingdom but the Road of the Kings and the Flower of Aquilonia books give you a lot of info on them. I had a mish mash of races inhabiting the kingdom- mostly Aquilonian, Ophirean, Kothic, Nemedian and Brythunian nobles with refugees from Hyperborea (also slave trading...

    Children of Men

You could tie this in to any Cyberpunk, Shadowrun or Blade Runner-esque movie/game out there. An entire game is not needed for this movie IMHO.

    The Visitors - "V"

With the new series coming out on ABC perhaps this should be re-looked at.

Wheel Of Time or A Song of Ice and Fire

Another plug for the Wheel of Time but the series is nearing an end. Two more books left to publish. In my mind there are several supplemental books that can easily be made for the game system: 1. The Artur Hawkwing Era (time setting). 2. The White Tower (and their Warders, weaves, etc.) 3. A...

Wizards RPG revised based on the Ralph Bakshi movie(Whit)

There was a Wizards RPG a while back but like many other "independent" RPGs, it had its own game mechanics- which sucked. I don't know if it's still generate wide spread interest or not. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan and watched the DVD last Sat. night but there's a lot of young people out...

    Mutant Chronicles

If it helps Mongoose, there were quite a few supplements for the Mutant Chronicles RPG. Each corporation/house/govt. had one. THe GM screen had a booklet on the moon. Each of the demon overlords or whatever (I forgot their names) had their own book and the Church had its own book.

    Ancient Rome RPG

There are Cthulhu and White Wolf products focusing on Rome and the Roman Era. I bet there's stuff from Steve Jackson Games too.

    Buy World of Darkness?

You do have a good point about White Wolf with its rehashing of its original ideas. I've been a White Wolf fan since 1990 when it first came to my area. All of their "changes" are just "re-do"s or "flippings" (as in house flippings) of their original content. Some of the mech changes. The...
