WZ-10 Armaments

The primary mission for the treetop hugging WZ-10 is battlefield interdiction, eliminating the enemy ground fixed and mobile forces, and concurrently certain air combat ability.

Development of a dedicated attack helicopter began in the mid-1990s at the 602 Institute and Changhe Aircraft Industry Company (CHAIC) in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province. The new WZ-10 (Wuzhuang Zhisheng-10) is apparently similar to the South African Rooviak and Italian Agusta A129. The design uses the power plant and transmission derived from the Harbin Z-9, with the fuselage modified to accommodate two pilots.

The helicopter can carry up to 8 ATGMs, or IR-guided short-range AAMs. Although the helicopter might still not be as capable as the U.S. AH-64 Apache, it will probably play a significant role in Army Aviation modernisation and force compabilities.

Will the WZ-10 (and Eurocopter Tigre) have AA capabilities in Battlefield Evo? More importantly, will the SuperCobra NOT carry AA missiles, since they don't in RL?

I wonder how long it'll take them to realize they need to stop equipping their helos with these missiles, since the likelihood that they'll get a shot off on a fast mover is slim to ziltch. Otherwise, shooting at other Helos is..well.. I gotta say if heliocopters are shooting at each other, there's been a break down of tactics on both sides....

And beyond that I can just say Maybe.

Its like giving a tank an anti aircraft missile that it fires from it's main gun. It's nice to have, but I'd rather have more ammo for the big gun than something that will more than likely just take up space.

But this one time, on some straight to DVD movie I saw on the SciFi channel, a helicopter shot down like 3 stealths (with 2 missiles man!!) and then flew underneath an A-10 SUCKING THE WIND BENEATH ITS WINGS! And then it....

yup, ruskys tried that, but went for anti aircraft guns at rear of turret, but it all adds weight. thats said some anti heli defence on tanks is probably going to be a future consideration.

Thusfar, I don't think there's been a war where a Western power has faced an enemy with a competant force of attack helicopters. Maybe Iran will prove to be such a challenge, but I don't know much about Iranian helicopter forces.

That's just it...even if we had a competent threat from Helicopters, how long does that last against dedicated anti-air forces?

- SAM equipped vehicles like the HMMWV Avenger varient?
- The Bradley Linebacker?
- F-16s and other air assets like the F-22?

Helicopters are the best weapons platform for CAS with a loiter capability that an A-10 would be jealous of, but unlike an A-10, even the venerable Hind (aka The Flying Tank) is still pretty darn vunerable when up against a dedicated AA platform (The A-10, like any good fast mover, can pull out and fly like the devil itself was nipping at its heels.. in comparison to Helicopters).
