World in Conflict(upcoming PC stragety game) screenshots.

Thought you all should see these beautifully rendered screens from the upcoming Alternate 80s World War 3 Real Time Stragety game for the PC. Basically it's 1989, USSR has been waging war in Europe for a year and decides to invade the USA as a way to distract it from fighting overseas. I think they're really inspirational for a big epic BFE scenario. Lots of Euro NATO units in this one-

Anyways, I'm thinking to do recreate World in Conflict for the BFE universe, you could have the Chinese vs. US/EFTF instead of USSR vs. NATO/US. Course you could always convert the models to have a late 80s cold war gone hot theme.

"It looks pretty amazing. I was watching Developer walkthroughs today. The nukes sound wierd though."

Yeah saw that myself too. I love the fact that it comes with an 80s soundtrack. Y'know Vietnam had hippie rock music, so why should'nt World War 3 have New Wave?

But back to the game. These guys really know how to make maps, and these maps truely make me wanna recreate them on tabletop.

disappointed with the Invasion USA premise, not really believable. Germany would have been better

Sorry, I should have posted something about the story. Europe DOES GET INVADED. In fact, when the game starts, the war has been going on in Europe for a year now, and the USSR decides to invade the USA for the sole purpose of disrupting US forces overseas.

yeah but you fight in the US. I wanted to fight in Germany/Norway/Balkans :(

Realistically I can't suspend disbelief enough to accept the Soviet Pacific Fleet getting past the US Pacific Fleet with an invasion force

Who said you DON'T get to fight in Europe?? Both singleplayer and multiplayer features battles in Europe, Russia, AND the good ol' USA. Besides, as for realism, they consulted technothriller writer Larry Bond for the story. He co-wrote Red Storm rising with Tom Clancy and was once hired by the US government in the 80s to come up with realistic scenarios on how the USSR would go about invading the USA.

Also, in one of the opening scenes of the story, an unmarked cargo ship docks in a Seattle harbour only to reveal that it is carrying Soviet Gunships and armor inside - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5Vmf3u0D1A&mode=related&search=

cool if you do fight in europe.
Unmarked cargo ships being allowed into Seattle during WW3? :? Not that realistic!

It may be world war 3, but it appears even that was'nt enough to have post-911 style border/coast security.

well, apparently that's how it gets kicked off actually

Actually no, as this preview states - http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/worldinconflict/news.html?sid=6168860

The fighting in Europe has been going on for a year, most of the US forces are overseas, leaving the West Coast venerable.

Really? Neat.....

Kinda sounds like the comic Total War..

What's really interesting has to be the objectives... the gas station and grochery store?

Please tell me more of this comic. Modern war comics are freakin rare and I'm curious if there is one.

As for the objectives, well World War 2 in Europe had battles for factories and depots, in World War 3 America we get the battle for 7 elevens and Burger King. I'm not kidding about the Burger King battle, see the last part of the Seattle video. That's something I'd like to recreate in a BFE tabletop, lol.

Total War had mysterious forces attacking the world, and it was set in the mid-cold war era, with high tech weaponry...

Oh right, I heard about this. Hope to find it in a comic convention someday.

Seems to be a very Red Dawn type invasion scenario. Unable to push through by conventional means, a more asymmetric approach is used. Of course, there is no realistic way they could sustain such a foothold unless there is a back story that gives them a navy that can challenge the US Navy.
