Why is the Mega deal more expensive?

Mongoose
Have to say, it appears to work out cheaper to buy books 1-12 separately. Looked at the megadeal, but after the conversion rate it was about £20+ more expensive. That can't be right surely

Adding the books 1-12 individually to your shopping cart:

£127.80 for the books.

plus:

£15.78 for postage

Total: £143.58

Now the Magnakai Mega deal:

$240 for the same books 1-12 together with $27 for postage comes to
$267 in total.

At the current conversion rate that's £176.46! And given the fact you get another book and book 12 for "free" it works out even more expensive.

£32.88 more expensive to be precise.

So it begs the question, why bother with the mega deals?
:?

I bought the megadeal at the very start when it was free shipping, and you got the novels free. Throw in the price protection against inflation, and it was worth it.

I do not know how the new deals work now. Perhaps they have not been updated to include the fact you can now get all the firts twelve books in one single delivery, making individual purchases comparable.

Actually, why are you needing to convert the second option? And I can't see where to even place the order, and the cost is tbc.

Anyway, someone else will have to comment I'm afraid.

I'm converting as the megadeal is in dollars. If buying from the UK you need to know how much it's costing, yes? In order to buy the megadeal you need to click on the us option on the left hand side. You can only buy in dollars. Not sure why.

Anyway, the current pricing of the megadeal needs looking at imo.

I did the same for the same reasons, plus I thought if Mongoose didn'tget enough interest they may not go through printing 29+ (even though they said they would it all comes down to business).

Well they need to change it and make it an attractive option again. Maybe 3 years ago when it was nearly 2 dollars to the pound it was a good deal. Not anymore.

Hopefully mongoose will read this thread and re-evaluate the offer.

That explains it.

Mongoose printed in the UK when the deal first came out. Now Mongoose print from the US, although they have UK shipping available as they get stocks sent over from their US printers.

I suspect something behind the scenes means that while buying individual books is fine, committing to having a single set of each book in one shipment is not for Mongoose. Or there is a worry for some hidden cost if alot of people went for the option at once in Europe. I don't know really :)

So basically, there is no Megadeal for UK customers anymore I guess....or as you point out not one that is economically viable.

I think your right. It must be a deal that suits the American buyer better. It would still be good if Mongoose could clarify that for all concerned however. I nearly bought the deal and I would been pretty hacked of if I hadn't done my numbers to begin with. Buyers from outside the US need to be made aware of this. Maybe M. Sprange could fill us in if he's following this thread?

Just a thought....

It's a substantial savings in US dollars, more than $150 cheaper (and thats just based on face value of the lone wolf game books, not looking at shipping or the bonus free novels)

Well, basically buyers from outside the US would still find it cheaper as stated if they were going with dollars. The only people affected are the UK. If you wnat to convert to a foreign currency in order to bypass a restriction, then you should be checking the conversion anyway - and find exactly what you found. I'm not sure how much clearer they can be than saying the deal isn't available, or is 'to be announced' for the UK people.

Well I'm sorry but it is not clear at all. When I rang and spoke to Mongoose they did not tell me as a UK customer to avoid the megadeal. In fact, when I asked about it they directed me to click on the US symbol to enable me to buy in dollars. There is no clear wording about how it would affect UK customers on the site. So, I'm sorry, but I still maintain to avoid the risk of paying more it needs to be clarified.

In short, you can buy it from the UK, but you are not told of the financial disadvantage of doing so. I'm sure its either an oversight or that is the only deal they can do. But either way it should be pointed out.
