Discussion of problem linked here

Given the recent discussion, do you think that the Rolling Thunder Scenario is unfair for a defending EFTF or USMC force given that the defender will be limited to infantry choices with no real anti armour capability (Nothing better than a 9 can be rolled against an Armoured unit, and even that's with Elevated Firing position bonuses.

Please, don't just vote without posting why, or if not why, at least post what you voted so we can be sure this is an honest poll.

Thanks

EDIT : BTW I voted yes.

glad to see you took a similar response to what i suggested as munber 4. the others could be valid tactics but wouldnt get you very far. :)

you have a couple of options which would work but wouldn't be very popular and could get you banned.

1. Threaten your enemy that if he doesn't make his army withdraw you will find him once he has left mongoose hall.

2. distract your opponent once you know who you will be playing against and when no-one is looking steal their tanks and vechiles - no models, cant use 'em, therefore you win.

3. rules say wave 3 or before, therefore things like m16s are allowed, so get one, an airsoft one will do and prove that a real airsoft gun CAN destroy tanks (model ones admittably but if thats all youy opponent has don't worry) this is probably the best option, is the most fun to do and probably best to watch someone else do.

obviously none of these are good ideas but its probably better than nothing, but i've saved the best to last...

4. everyone send an email to matt asking him to change the rules so either he will correct the problem straight away or everyone bombarding him with the similar message will annoy him so much he will eventually give in and correct it.

BTW i too voted yes as realistically your only option is to avoid any fire, and your chances of killing the enemy are stupidly low to make it a good game.

well for a start its not unwinnable for the EFTF or USMC

V MEA No problem

V PLA Bunkers realy stuff them over, and as a defender you can have bunkers ;)

on the pther side of the table on the attack the EFTF and the USMC are by far the most dangerouse force out their V each other its going to be a case of bunkers V target priority.

its on a dice EFTF V USMC on who gets to attack both have some real killer units for this shadows and warriors making amazing attack units in this scenario that give pla and mea on defence some real huge problems game wise..

on defence usmc and brits could just take loads of recon or sas units from their force list and stick them in big bunkers for example. the other forces dont get this sort of advantage of sich a specialist unit. EFTF could deploy a units of sas in a bunker up front and then later on deploy other sas unit behind enemy in their deployment zone, this will mean they will survive or they will drag enemy form exiting your table edge as they go back to confront them.

i think the problems the eftf have as do the yanks for this scenario in defence is ballanced by their strength on the attack of that scenario.

just how i see it and how we have found in games we have played thus far.

I vote No.

It's a crappy deal for the defender. But it's probably the coolest, most diabolical scenario in the book and, I Like It! :)

Nuff Said.

No, it's not unwinnable, but it is fairly biased with the current releases.

If it's on a table with no terrain high enough to offer Elevated Firing positions, then there's no way an EFTF or USMC infantry force can even scratch an attacking PLA force consisting of 2 Type 99s. Again not strictly unwinnable, given that you get VP for survivibng units and the Chinese might keep missing, but it is an example heavily in favour of the PLA attacker.

Nice to know that common sense won out.... Personally I am really looking forward to being able to fight this scenario when enough units are out as it sounds a boat load of fun.

only sence if it still allowed MEA to possably grab one of the 3-4 top positions. results will show i guese. best senario in the game for the mea rest pulverise them at present.

Again with the 'pro MEA' bias Evil :)

A balanced selection of scenarios should allow the top 4 players (assuming they chose the faction most suited to them) to get the top 4 positions.
