I'd tend to go along the cultural rebel path, where for whatever reason the Wild Healer and the Cleansed One aren't illuminated but are travelling their own paths.

I'd hope illumination is very rare.

Rarer even than only two suspected 'good' broo in all of recorded Gloranthan history? We know that chatics can become illuminated, that's an established fact becauase the Lunars and Bright Empire did it on a large scale and we also know that Ralzakark claims to be illuminated and actualy does appear to be, so it seems credible. Personaly I doubt it in the case of the Wild Healer, I think he's just weird, but for the 'cleaned one' I think it's highly likely.

BTW, Do we know if the Rockwoods Healer was actually born a broo? I recall that gaining chaotic features gave something like a 10% chance of turning into a broo. Maybe he was a Challlan Arroy Healer who picked up a feature or two and rolled bad.

I'd like to think that the waters really do have the power to remove the taint of chaos, and that it's possible for the "repentant" to find a path away from chaos.

One thing about weirdo or goodguy Broo's. They would be about as common as serial killers are among Humans. Inmy world they exist but are very rare. he pmment a roo decide to become a good guy, almost the whole world then becomes out to get him. All chaotic will want to kill him as a treasonous pervert, while most non chaotics are not going to bother to find out he has turned his back on chaos.So those that survive would have to be very poweful or very lucky.

It's not so much 'turning into' as 'releasing the hidden broo within'.
