whats happening with Conan on Mongoose?

I dont think there is much battle there. Matt has told us there will not be a system change. So that is a dead issue.

Things change though. Mongoose have said other stuff that later turned out to no longer be true. I was fully expecting the anouncement that Starship Troopers was being cancelled to be an anouncement of the Fleet sourcebook. It wasn't. Starship Troopers was mentioned as a possible future Traveller sourcebook. Also didn't happen.

What Mongoose intend, might no longer be a good idea six months later. Not because of any malevolent skullduggery, but because real life intrudes and no plan survives contact with reality.

Having said all that, I think it is unlikely to change system. I just don't think it is a dead certanty.

Nope, I just try to avoid absolute statements or thinking online. X absolutely sucks, Y will never happen, that kind of thing. I don't always succeed of course.....

But I hereby absolutely swear I am not looking at a Runequest Conan playtest. Or something.

Pathfinder maybe?

Still D20 OGL... addresses some complexities people complain about with 3.5 (skills/special combat actions etc) while leaving it mostly "as is" and pretty much compatible/playable w/ current material. It's about to come out versus Matt can't tell us yet, but soon.
