What is the spiky thing the exosuits carry?

I was reading the Markosia comic with the grizzly suit in it the other week actually thinking about it, I believe it was refered to as a laser knife... I just assumed they meant the lances

Max has got it nailed. Since not all of the arms included the laser knife, I tried to include it on most of my command models when I made my Exosuits up.
According to the RPG book-
Laser Knife: Built into a module on the forearm of exosuits, the laser knife is a close combat weapon with an extendable laser-based blade. This permits a trooper to cut through bulkheads and overcome most enemies at close quarters when longer ranged weaponry fails. However, troops are not recommended to attack Arachnids in this manner.
The reason that there are no separate stats for the laser knife is that it is included in the CC attack of the model itself.

Yes I know SST has both war gaming and role playing, but surely it can't be that difficult to get some consistancy between the two, I am sure the same people are involved in developing both.
Just make the laser knife a 10 point upgrade for an exosuit that gives it +3 pericing and then let us ignore it as no one will bother to take it unless its a freebie to fill up points, as you really don't want to be charging things with exosuits, they are so much better at shooting 99.9% of the time.
