What do you feel needs to be Updated in Traveller' Tech

The old size issue and cost can, IMO, adequately be explained as "workstation space" and "supporting tech" (printers, cabling racks, control interfaces and the like).

I also include the fact that the systems to be with a severe level of redundancy. How many computers do you know that you could hit with an axe and have the only result be a slightly less efficient computer?

IMTU, the computers still need to stop running all extraneous programs before they will initiate the jump sequence. How awful would it be to have to attribute your catastrophic misjump to your game of solitaire throwing an error? What this may lack in realism is more than made up for in stressing to the players just how serious Jump is and how "advanced" this technology is in the Imperium, regardless of the fact that it is over a thousand years old.

I never have liked how computers are handled in Traveller. To many of the things that are attributed to being a function of the computer are actually functions of other specialized hardware.

In recent years when I see computer listed by model in Traveller I translate to mean electronics package.

Couple that with that in this modern world most large equipment that has a need for for computer/electronic control come with dedicated comps.
