Mongoose
I was just wondering if the fith and sixth race that were talked were still coming. I was just emembering hearing MSprange talk at Kublacon 06 about a cyborg race with many diffrent aliens that have not been seen yet being cyborized, species 872 or something. and the way pysic race. a matriarcal race that does everything from floating thier hovercars to how thier guns work. well just wondering if evo killed them or not.

I would imagine that it hasn't killed these ideas, just put them onto the back burner for a while.

Matt has just said in the Bf:Evo forum that the Russians (a much wanted faction) won't be turning up for a while. Making my own assumptions on this I would imagine that it will just be the 4 races mentioned so far in SST(and SST:Evo) for at least the next year, then they will see which is selling better BF or SST and decide which to push a new faction / race for 1st.

Don't know where the Lesbian bit comes from??

I heard they were to be a matriarcal race (women in charge) even if purely female no necessarily lesbian. They could rely on parthenogenisis (sp) for procreation or test tube babies with artificially controlled sex determination.

You know, perhaps their "abilities" psychic or whatever are linked to their female sex in some genetic fashion??
Lots of possibilities and directions possible with the Coven.

Lovely basic concept.

Remember Heinlein states females make superior pilots, why not better leaders overall??

Fun ahead for all. :D :D :D :D :D

'Space Lesbians' is how they were defined by Matt when he mentioned them way back at the SST Evo preview day in Swindon.

They could end up much like the Bene Gesserit - who knows.

And yes, for many reasons Females are better suited to certain roles; they would make brilliant submariners for instance, due to their (on average) smaller size and lower requirement for oxygen. Then again locking an all-female crew up in an enclosed space for several months with access to nuclear weapons may not be a good idea, as close proximity with other females has been shown to have interesting social/biological effects on women.

New races are on the backburner, but I wonder if SST Evo is back there as well. First it was April, then August, whats next? "The next hot toy for Christmas."

I'm with the surgeon. Lots of time is passing with pretty darn limited information. Shouldn't we be seeing ads and reading hype if its an August release?

I'm not so sure the house download only magazine counts as a huge publicity blitz. I haven't seen anything else on any other games sites or in any other game mags...any one else?

I'm not trying to slam Mongoose, but we had a couple of promo figs released back in what December? Then we told Delay! Then we got hard as hell to read cards that weren't even done, look at some of them, they don't match.

No the promo figs looked awesome, don't get me wrong, but I heard that the first wave BF figs were not all that impressive and it makes me wonder. Couldn't say about the 2nd wave, but don't they use the same art team or whatever?

I'd be alot less "the sky is falling" if they would just be more open about things. Tell us why there are delays not just we have a suprise then leave it that for a month, release some new multi angle shots of the figs they have done, maybe give us some more rules.

Do I ask for to much?

Download the magazine again, they fixed the mismatched cards. They're still hard to read, AFAIK, so check out the Wave 1 transcription thread if you need to.

As for the general topic, products are done when they are done. It's true where I work, it's true at Mongoose. (Interestingly, the same is true of the statement "Things are made in China"...) No one sets out to delay a product, and no one wants to admit that they lost a week because Joe was on his honeymoon, and a month because someone used 8.5x11 paper instead of A4 on one of the contracts, and another month because... It's not like I don't have mountains of lead to paint anyway.
