A discussion of Wayfarers began in the Legend forum, and I am continuing the thread here, as it seems to be the proper place for it.

The revised Wayfarers RPG is to be released next month:

I'll be happy to answer any questions anyone might have, and will start off with this question from Machpants:

Pre-ordered :)

So is the game much changed from the original?
The game plays the same, so we chose not to call it a new Edition, however there are quite a few updates modifications, and additions that have been made. Here is a short list of some of the changes:

Most creatures have been modified, and new ones have been added.
Weapon damage has changed, and weapons now have strength requirements.
Many spells have been changed and some new ones have been added.
New GM resources.
A few new skills have replaced a few old ones, some skills have been modified.
New Optional Skills and Races.
Armor Impedance has been modified, and is more directly based upon strength.
Natural Healing has been modified.
Faith magic potions (Ambrosias) have been added. Magic Item creation has been modified. Some items added.
Skill costs have been modified and simplified.
Attributes costs and effects have been modified.
Characters now begin at skill level 0.
New art, and a new cover!

There are others, but those are the main changes that come to mind. Generally speaking (IMHO), character creation has been streamlined, and the game feels more dynamic in play. Creatures are generally more formidable, and changes to weapon damage and spells make combat a somewhat more intense.

We didn't set out on an overhaul, but did our best to isolate what the strongest and weakest parts of the original game were, and used those to guide the revision. Personally, I am very happy with the result. I hope you will be too!

Wow that seems like a lot of changes! However they do sound 'tweaky' rather than sweeping.

Thanks for your replies.
No problem. Yes, the game remains the same. One group that was part of the feedback and playtesting switched their characters from the original to the revised rules mid-campaign. I wasn't aware of any major issues that arose.

We are excited about more folks to taking Wayfarers for a spin. IMHO it plays and feels just like you think it should.

If you haven't grabbed it, our intro adventure Trouble at Niven's Creek has been revised for this edition, and it's free at RPGNow.

Jimmy. I never investigated the past edition of Wayfarers, but now that the revised system is being published by Mongoose, I'm interested (publishing by this route has certainly increased its visibility).

To get an idea of the books, I had a look at the pdf previews on DrivethruRPG and as soon as I saw that it has art by Peter Mullen, I was even more interested in buying the books.

What I'm uncertain about now is how well this will be supported by adventures. I know there is a setting book scheduled, but what about your plans for adventures?

Failing that, how easy is it to convert other systems to Wayfarers?

Free time is at a real premium in my life, so support for a game is essential.

At the moment it looks like there's a real embarrassment of riches for simple fantasy systems with "Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG", "Adventurer, Conqueror, King", and "Wayfarers" (my three systems to decide amongst).
