WaW stuff

Do not get me wrong, I own all DH books plus the RoE book and I like both games, but I can't remember such a negative feedback to the game when RoE came out!

My questions are not to be taken as negative feedback!

Well, you're still coming in as the last horse in the show. I took a look at the Rules of Engagement website... they got Finns. Finns! And Soviets... Flames of War, while not a skirmish game (thought technically since you're dealing with a small portion of a battlefield it could be considered a skirmish in military terms), does have all your little optional extras like different models of the Panzer mk IV.... I mean, were's our flame throwing panzer, Agis? Or our artillery spotting panzer? How about our remote controlled panzer? Come on! Please? Pretty please?

I give up...
(You do realize, that all the above mentioned stuff is only web support and has nothing to do with the rulebook, or...)

Agis,

Just want to throw you a life preserver here. IMO you should just ignore all the bashing at TMP and keep plugging away on the Pacific Theater expansion. 8)

WaW is fantastic! Also, I was very excited to see on your website where Pacific Theater was next on the list. I grew up in Hawaii, and have been wargaming since 1976. I feel the Pacific Theater is vastly under-utilized in WWII wargames, minis in particular.

BTW, if you are at all still in need of any Playtesting for Pacific Theater, I'd be more than happy to help (I am currently one of the playtesters for BF:Evo Modern Combat - but WWII Pacific is my all time favorite historical period, and I wish I had seen you were doing it sooner).

BTW, For What It's Worth: Well thought out answers to all the questions and concerns we keep throwing at you. You are doing a terrific job! 8)

* Edited for Grammar. :oops:

So when well we expect the flammpanzer 38? ;)

(And yes, yes I do realize that, but I included that in as the optional extras and bells and whistles instead of just the initial release.)

Honestly, I think you misunderstood my statements. Seriously, I love the product, I'm just a greedy cuss that loves toys.

No real problem here hiro, I am a bit dense and itchy these days...

The additional problem is IMO that very often the subtle non verbal communication messages are just not transported via the net!

All these bits people want !! why not have a living source book put together with players and playtested and discused by users.

to be honest you could never cover every type of unit and every type of armoured vehicle used in WW2 not every type of vehicle made it to every type of front line !!

FOW evan misses out stuff and FOW is huge !!!!!

BFE is a frame work after all

That's where smilies come in handy!

Now, about that Flammpanzer 38... :D

I have just purchased a copy and I like it, my only question is where are the 2 inch mortars and 60mm mortars??
For the Brits/Commonwealth it was the default support weapon at the platoon level and for the US its a far more common support weapon at the skirmish level. 81s/3 inchers being a company asset. It would be an easy fix just an addendum sheet for these. I could add the Russian 45mm since, TO&E, photo evidence, and accounts give credence to this, but I'll let that one slide. The 60 and the 2 inch are too important for the Allies not to be represented. These new 25mm companies are guilty for not having representations of these weapons in miniature. Thats why I stick with 20mm!!! reality and doctrine can't be avoided.

But please, understand, that besides this point, the ruleset is overall excellent, easy to read, well thought out and those were the only 2 weapons that I thought were desparately needed to have a "jolly good" ruleset. (maybe its because I've talked to too many ww2 60mm mortarmen! but they were there!)
Keep up the good work!!

"These new 25mm companies are guilty for not having representations of these weapons in miniature."

I've wondered about this, myself. Foundry (the really expensive company) has a Brit commando or para with one of these.

True,
As far as companies willing to do 2 inchers only foundry and Battle Honours do. Apparently west wind with their new "separate head" figures these weapons are available in the platoon packs. As for the 60, only battle honors, that I know of does it.
As for the rest, who knows when/if?

Artizan Designs have the US 60mm mortars (with crew) in their 28mm range. Unfortunately they don't have the 2" mortars for the Brits (only 3")

Bolt Action Miniatures do 2" mortars for Infantry and PAras.

And very nice they are as well (probably will have some of these at Mongoose Hall tomorrow, so if anyoine is attending give them a look!)

Use the following stats for the British 2"; US 60mm Mortar:
2"/60mm Mortar (Fire Arc/FaF) Range: 36" Damage: D6 Traits: Artillery, Lethal Zone/2”, Ready, Slow
-10 points to the 3"/81mm Mortar

I've been reading the WAW rulebook for a few days now , I can honestly say I am quite impressed. I have a few questions , firstly how would you handle the Whibelwind(sp?) 2cm AA shooting on the move, re-roll misses(accurate) and re-roll hits(vehicle moving)?

Secondly, how do you calculate armor saves for structures. Saves are listed for emplacements on page #37, but on #34-35 saves are not mentioned.

Thirdly, what is the benefit of using a special movement mode? I just cant seem to wrap my mind around it, are you allowed to shoot as well as move even though you must use a "ready" action? Why would you ever use the vehicle's standard move speed?

Again, bad ass rulebook Mr. Neugebauer!

Ah the double re-roll question.
P.6 - the second re-roll stands. However - since there is no indications which rolls comes first - I am a bit lost here. I always used my Wirbelwinds quite static in my playtest games...
Right now I say: You have to re-roll the hits and do not get the re-roll for Accurate. Up to Matt.

Something for Matt to be on the sure side, IMO the structures on p. 34 don't have saves.

1st - Thanks! :)
2nd - Yes you can shoot while doing special move (see: P.15 2nd col. 2nd paragraph). No real benefit for wheeled vehicles, for tracked vehicles you have the bonus of going fast and not be slowed by difficult terrain.
