Hi
what was the design theory behind choosing 10" as the recation distance - my man fires at you but he is 11" away from you so you dont react...why not if you get me?

You've got to draw the line somewhere. If it was 11" then some would argue why not the model 12" away. 10" seems a good distance, far enough away to have an effect and not to far to dominate a board.

why not an unlimited range reaction? if you fire at me from behind a building 400m away I am certainly going to react. same could be said of any firing in BFevo - get fired on you can react, after all its only once per turn anyway.

I presume recation is linked to awareness.

I would have prefered a simple range andaction table so if you move within #" I can react, if you fire within #" I can react etc. vehicles are recated to over greter distances that infantry, sneaking infantry are reacted to over shorter distances.

Similar to Operation Overlord I guess...mmm maybe I will work this up.

maybe a reation cold require a simple test as a prerequisite...

You can. The 10" range is for other actions only.

Yeah. I think OP got it confused somewhere. You get shot at, you can react. Doesn't matter was shooting happening 1" from you or 60" from you.

However ready, move etc actions only triggers reaction if they happen within 10"(and for why not unlimited range...Well is it right everybody reacts every turn? Think about it. You move. Opponent always will have chance to shoot you with reaction if he can sees you. Is it really sensible that everybody will have free chance to shoot as reaction every turn in addition to normal actions on their turn? Would be even more lethal game that way! And probably discourage moving "quite a bit" when it's going to result in hail of fire coming in your way.

I've toyed with using the Operation Overlord card-interruption and awareness system with the World at War combat resoulution/scenario/points values.

Thanks SgtHulka - I definitly think the OO awarenes table ranges could work - not sure about cards as well tho - brain hurts - must go figger!
