Warding spell

I have read a sentence that has confused me. Dwarfs book (page 37) says that the doors are sealed with the warding spell to impede access to enemy.
But I thought that warding spell give countermagic spell and damage resistance versus external attacks ONLY. But it seems like it would be a physical, solid barrier.
Which is the exact use of warding spell?

Hi,

I wonder if there is a little of the legacy of the old Warding spell in this description which caused 1d3 disruption damage to a random location per point of warding spell, which I must admit I put back into my game.

I read the description as since the spell provides damage resistance versus external attacks, it would also protect a locked/barred door from any attempts to batter through it with, say, axes and battering rams.
