War in the Twenty-First Century

I am also looking forward to this.

What minitures do you think would be good for the Orieni. My thoughts are that the big chaos ship from forgeworld "Harbringer?"could be good for the large Orieni, Paragon and there is a full thrust miniatures fleet in a similar style which could do for the smaller vessels. Dont remeber the FT fleet name but it is the miniatures you are using for your Dilgar, Da Boss.

tell me about it. I have 6 Ikea glass cabinets full of the things with even more up the loft awaiting painting. Do I rush along to paint them, no I rush along to buy more.

And then I wonder why my better half doesn't quite undestand.

I blame Mongoose. etc etc.

Proper Orieni miniatures, cast by Mongoose and released for sale alongside an Orieni supplement.

Not asking for very much, am I?

Nerroth - Well said that person.

And I would ceratinly buy them, however I would also have to say that I would like to see a few ships from Mongoose / Ironwind before the Orieni, like the Neroon for instance.

I think it will be a quite a few months before we see any new sculpts. Hopefully I am wrong. I am also just happy that the miniatures are coming back at all.

Right.....Order & Light - the .pdf of the 21st century Hand of the Blessed - is done (After a bit of MS paint-based faffing, the .pdf also includes ACTA format counters, using the B5W counter images produced by Richbax and his merry minions).

I'm getting started on House & Throne, the Centauri equivalent.

I'll be starting with the stats posted here, but want to check them off against the Orieni equivalents, and I've put in quite a few showdowns and variants hulls, which helped make the House Fleets a distinct entity from the Royal Navy - the only common unit being the Glaive fighter.

(for example, the Asturias and Aurillia - rebuilds of half-scrap Astur assault ships into something the Houses can use as a cruiser and carrier)

I am going to post them up here, but want to put both up at the same time, since they're supposed to be used against each other.

The last one (no particular idea on name as yet) will have 21st century Abbai, Raider (mix of Drazi and Centauri Privateer) and Uusuth for use in scenarios and as general target practice. Basically everyone else caught up in the war...

I love the titles for the books..."Order & Light" and "House & Throne" are great titles. I might have to steal--I mean borrow--them for my CEntauri-Orieni novel.

As for the Drazi and raiders and others....
Beyond The Marches
Fringe Worlds
Bear And Snake

Hope the Drazi don't get to sidelined... they are the biggest non aligned empire, and only a tad bit smaller than the narn... not sure why everyone makes out like they are a minor nuissance fleet.

Ripple

They're not a minor nuisance fleet. In fact they're one of the oldest races and just as advanced as anyone sub-minbari. Anyone who can put something as bloody lethal as a solar cannon on a sunhawk hull deserves respect.

They get a bit sidelined simply because they're not one of the major combatants in the Centauri-Orieni war (the clue's in the name) - Drazi-sponsored privateers started the whole thing off, but the proper freehold fleets never really got involved (unlike the Abbai, who did get invaded by some over-enthusiastic and under-trained house militia forces).

Ok......first draft of the first two .pdfs, House & Throne and Order & Light, are finished.

For House & Throne (Centauri)

For Order & Light (Orieni)

Still need to do

~ Scenarios
~ Abbai Fleet
~ Drazi Fleet
~ Privateer Fleet (effectively Raiders)
~ Come up with a suitable name for the above. I like Beyond the Marches, although given the awesomeness of the I've Found Her game, I'm tempted to steal their title - Danger & Opportunity.....[/list]

Cool!

If only I wasn't so rusty with ACTA, otherwise I'd dive into trying to use your work with the Orieni to try and develop the Crusade-era Imperium in the other thread...

HAd a look through the pdfs and the ships seam abit over power 30 AD of mini beam in one arc seams a little high for a raid level ship

have to agree, 16AD MB on skirmish, 20 and 30AD MB on raid are all a bit much. but it depends on the other fleet. if the fleets are balanced against each other and not going to be used against normal CTA fleets this isnt a problem. much as most of the ships in DaBosses alternate universe were overpowered in the normal B5 CTA sense but balanced for each other.

lol there are some really crazy ships in there though :D

one other major thing of note - all the ships arcs are totally out of what they should be for normal CTA. the arcs do not go to each corner but give 90 degrees in each direction. on the counters in this supplement ships have a much wider port/starboard arc than the do front/rear which can seriously mess up fleets relying on forward firepower.

I tend to agree with the idea that ships are balanced fro their universe and whilst some of my designs are powerful and maybe over the top (Shakrlis) I actually thought they were pretty balanced against the "good" ships of the mainstream ACTA universe. I took out most of the "bad" ships of the latter and usually swapped for decent alternatives........ As the next part of DR involves ships from the mainstream universe should be interesting to see if It works out.

I also seem to remember quite a few very powerful ships in your ECW  pack

re the counters - yeah I started doing them and relaised its not corner to corner - have got to work out a way of doing them so its the proper 90 degree - maybe someone should bring out ones like the forgeworld ones for TA? 8)

if you do them on paint its pretty easy.
say you have a 100 pixel wide by 200 tall, add 50 pixels, flip, add another 50 pixels so that you have a square. then draw corner to corner, then reverse the added pixels.
