You, sir, get my vote for post of the day. You also raise an interesting point which seems extremely relevant with all this talk of relaunches and so on. Why are Mongoose not offering counter packs for this game? With the original ACTA for B5, the game came supplied with a bunch of ship counters which I used for ages in lieu of minis. Even Victory At Sea had counter sheets so you could play the game without the need for minis. Now I know counters can be obtained from ADB for the ships in the game and if only Mongoose had provided a version of these, or the option to buy counters with the game, then we might be in a better place now.

No need for Mongoose to produce/offer counters when Mega Hex availible. Anyone with FC will have these, and i to have been using them for starter games (though now have 1000pts of Klingon ships, with an additional 500pts to paint)

I really recomend these to anyone, they are perfect for the game. Cheaper than a single ship and the set contains a large number of ships for every race.

There is a good mix of all the basic ship classes for all the races.

The Federation Commander sets had megahex counters, so you can get those as spare parts from ADB if you are looking for particular ships or empires.

[As an old FC player I have many megahex counters. What I'm still waiting for is a %^$#@!!! rulebook. I can live without minis as long as I have RULES to use, but I'm still waiting on my preordered rules!!]

Good call! Just ordered a set. We're in this game for the long haul - want to keep the momentum going! We played with some starline 2400 we had kicking around last night, but our ship selection is no extensive enough and is not like starline 2400 minis are being given away free yet!
