Victory Points, How do They Round?

With the inclusion of Armageddon, we now have a victory point bracket that only gives 1/2 of a VP. Considering this, how are we to interpret how victory points round in the case of Tactical Withdrawal or Crippling?

Option one (Purist):

Killing a Patrol Level ship in a War Level scenario yields 1 VP. Crippling it yields 1/5 VPs, which is rounded up to 1.

Killing a Patrol Level ship in an Armageddon Level scenario yields 1/2 VPs, however crippling it yields 1/10 of a VP, which is rounded up to 1 (says you always round up with crippling and tactical withdrawals).

Option two (more reasonable).

Killing a Patrol Level ship in a War Level scenario yields 1 VP. Crippling it yields 1/5 VPs, which is rounded up to 1/2.

Killing a Patrol Level ship in an Armageddon Level scenario yields 1/2 VPs, however crippling it yields 1/10 of a VP, which is rounded up to 1/2.

My basic question is where do we round, to the closest whole number of the closest half?

There is, unless I'm mistaken, no need to round VP, just add up the fractions, highest score at the end of the game wins.

No rounding required.

Except of course it states in Sfos to round up.

Only for Crippling, Skeleton Crew and Tactical Withdrawals, not in general.

SO given the rules as they stand, if playing at Armageddon level, crippling a Patrol ship is worth more than destroying it.

Something needs clarified here, I mean if you round up the 1/2 VP for a Patrol ship when playing at Armageddon, what;s the point of it being 1/2, why not just state it as 1.

But of course! Takes much more finesse and skill to simply cripple a patrol ship...have you seen the number of hits on a Haven patrol boat ;)

On the 1/2 point question, it could make a difference if you have to add everything up before rounding at the end e.g.

a. Destroy 11 patrol ships, get 0.5 point per ship, or 0.5x11= 5.5 points, rounded up to 6.

b. Destroy 11 patrol ships, get 0.5 point per ship - round that up to 1pt then total is 11 x 1 = 11 points!
