Victory points for fighters

Cosmic Mongoose
Under standard Armageddon rules, are fighters which are launched from a capital ship worth a VP to kill? I know in the Mongoose tournaments so far they have been, but this seems to be a House Rule since it is stated in the tourney PDF's. Does this apply to Armageddon standard rules, or not?

The only evidence for it, is the part about Shadow Fighters:

Destroyed Shadow Fighters give victory points as normal (one point per flight)
Is this enough to justify giving 1 VP for every fighter that is destroyed for the other races too? Or is the "as normal" only referring to fighters bought as independent wings?

Official answers only please.

so flights of 4 fighters give away more vps than a patrol ship in a 5 point raid, and the omegas and novas are worth effectively 4 more vps too cos their fighters usually die :)

Yes, they all give up 1 VP!

Would have been nice to put that along with the other Aux craft changes.

WS Carriers now give up a load of VP if the fighters die after launching.

Not necessarily LBH. If the WS Fighter is worth 1 VP each, but costs 1 skirmish to buy outright, you actually come out ahead. Also if the Carrier survives, and is not crippled or skeletoned, you are likely coming out ahead as well over another war level hull.

Sorry, but that sounds really odd (and not logical) to me.
I am not a CtA-Expert but isn't the value of the fighters part of their carrier?
If no carriers should be much cheaper.

They used to be, some players keep the fighters in the caps. Since you lose more VP's, with them deployed

It's the ones that come with the carrier I'm concerned about, I mean an early EA Avenger's fighters are worth almost as much as it is this way.

Doesn't feel right.

And are his rulings always correct? :)

In this instance I will use the rules as written for my own games. Of course tourney's are a different matter.

I rarely disagree with Matthew, as he is my boss and all, but we in my local group have platyed for a long time now that auxiliary craft launched from a ship are not worth VPs (it is built into the cost of the ship)...only those that you have to buy separately.

Up until Armageddon this meant that Shadow Fighters DID score VPs because of having to buy them separately, but now (by the way we have been playing) they would not.

Just my opinions...Matthew is the lead on this one.

I think I might do that too. Until it's made a ruling in print.

I think for the pursposes of the next Chicago tournament, we won't be scoring aux craft which came with a ship as separate VPs. Their inherent value seems to be built into the initial cost of their mothership versus seperately purchased wings.

I'd usually take Mr. Sprange at his word with rules questions but I'm really not sure about this one.

If all fighters and not just Shadow fighters now give 1VP why was this not added to the rules revisions at the front rather than in the FAQ ?. I think Matt might be confusing the rules that stated Shadow fighter flights were required to be bought seperately and counted as independant flights for VPs (in SFOS). Granted the tournament rules had all flights giving 1VP, but they're not necessarily the same as the standard rules.

Edited once for crap spelling :)
