Vassal 2e news

Cosmic Mongoose
for those of you who play vassal. the 2e mod is ready and waiting. however it will not be released for a few weeks to allow the full release of 2e to get to everyone etc.
as i know more i will pass it on.

Some friends of mine and I just started playing Vassal, so please forgive me if I'm rehashing an old subject.

We've noticed that the only ways to turn ships are in 45 and 90 degree increments. This seems to hold true, even for SM Shadow ships.

Fighters have a "rotate" feature that is nice for smaller turn arcs than 45 and 90 degees. Is there any chance of getting something like that to apply to all the ships in the game (or, at least, to SM ships)?

Or are we missing something?

-Ken

You can turn manually using Reset on the command line menu for the ships. (click the ship, right click and choose Reset from the menu).
For some odd reason it won't change the term Reset to Rotation, cause unknown. :)

Doh. I figured we had to be missing something. That was a pretty big "oversight" to go on as long as it had. ;)

Thanks, Jay.

We used to always manually rotate up until a few months ago when i had a brainstorm and developed the fixed turns.
Hurrah for me!

Is it possible to have both available so that those of us with 2e can download the new one?

as I said, how do we know who has 2e and who doesnt? the old version will stay up until a couple of weeks after release date then it will be changed for 2e.
if you intend to stay on 1e then download now.

lol perhaps i should put a password system where you have to tell me the 3rd letter of the 2nd word of the 58th page or something like that :) changing everytime someone answers it.

Well, maybe in this edition I get to actually play Vassal; I somehow never could get myself to do that in 1st ed. But then, someone mentioned he would like to organize a 2nd Ed. Vassal campaign (Romu, I think?); should get interesting

Yep it was Romu

And yes it should be interesting - of course with all the fleet list changes and additions, I now am spoiled for choice as to which fleet!

Yes i should get the books next week if all goes well, gimme a little more time and i'll try to set it all up :)
