VAS-critical hit rolls natural 6 vs 6+

Is a possible crit only on a roll of natural 6 or on a 6 or higher?
You can possibly get a roll as high as 9 sometimes if you have
SAP trait and long range or extreme range fire.

I understand either way that you then roll a 4+ to get the
actual crit.

The normal Crit rules apply only to a natural 6, followed by the second roll of 4+.

The extra bonuses added make no difference to a possible crit, eg a roll of 5 with a +1 is NOT a crit roll
