Vade Mecum?

Very mysterious. Its this kind of last minute changes and delays over the last 18 months that has really hurt this RPG. I hope that a decision is made quickly.

I guess this means the estimate for a Gencon release will be unfulfilled either way :(

Several people have reeived Vade Mecum in the post. As such, the mysterious delay seems to be either that the first print run has already sold out, or that Wildfire may be looking at other options.

Yes, my copy has arrived, and rumours abound. Hopefully this gets resolved somwhere/somehow - it's a great RPG.

Oh brother. It feels like I'll never be able to get the supplements through normal channels if it changes companies. That means new ISBN numbers, which means that they will be harder to track down. Oh brother.

Press release from Wildfire:

(31 July) WildFire and Catalyst Game Labs have signed a letter of intent to go forward with a new publishing partnership, making Catalyst Game Labs the new home of the CthulhuTech game line.

The benefit for distributors, retailers, and consumers alike is that CthulhuTech books will now be regularly in print and of high quality printing and binding. The benefit for the customer is that CthulhuTech books will now be full-color hard-covers, the way the books were designed to be presented.

Preorders go up in a couple of weeks, with the new full color books due in 3 months.

And asking the unspoken question ...

And after all the, presumably, Wildfire generated delays to date, why would one believe that this timeline will actually be met?

If you are aware of the full history, the delays have been caused primarily by Mongoose's change of printer (this is not a criticism as I support Mongoose's decision). For example, DP was finished and ready to go to print in December 07 and its release in July 08 was solely caused by this change. The same can be said about the Core book's March 08 to July 08 delays.

The original Corebook release was partially due to Wildfire but on the other hand Vade Mecum was released on time.

As such, I would conservatively expect delays again with the move to Catalyst due to the change of printing. However, it is unlikely that we will see the same kind of delays that we have to date.

Indeed. My point exactly. :)

So you agree, the delays due to changes of printer were not Wildfire generated? If so, then I agree that the kind of delays we have seen from Mongoose's change of printer may occur again, though my guess is that they will be shorter this time.

No. I agree that Wildfires claims of no delays are ... unlikely
