Umm, shouldn't we have a Traveller forum now?

here, here... although I guess there's not a lot to talk about at the moment and may lead to a lot of frustrated fans shouting for mongoose blood.. "Where's the news? Whats going on? How's it going? ARE WE NEARLY THERE YET?!?!?!?!" (ahem) stuff like that.

There is already a Mongoose Traveller forum at Citizens of the Imperium:

Since the game is not out yet forget about it. I can only shudder when I think of the Age of Conan Forum.

Of course, that is a moot point.

The main point is that you are going to get the discussion whether you want to your not. The real question is this: Does Mongoose want the Traveller discussion (premature or not) to rage all across other forums on this board, or do they want to try and contain them into a single forum?

This is Traveller we are talking about. The discussion is going to happen. The question is whether you want to try and control it, or if you want to let it rage everywhere out of control?

I think it should wait until the rules are out, for two reasons:

(1) It's not here yet.

(2) It would do Traveller grognards some good to spend some time getting to know the other forums here. This is one way to encourage that. After all, Traveller will have to learn to play along with the settings it's going to support. We might as well see where the current players are coming from.

Having said that, I'm all for a playtest forum, or a "gripe at the MonTrav authors" forum, a.k.a. "development discussion", or something that might be productive.

Don't contain it. Make us post within the context of current systems. Heaven forbid, we might learn some politeness!

The other thing to remember is that a lot of the current activity is because of the announcement of the license. Things will probably drop off for a while until we get closer to release.

I don't think you realize what a hot issue this is. Check RPGNet for some samples  .

:D

RPGNet, full of rabid Exalted and D&D freaks complaining that they can't understand pseudo-hexadecimal.

Fractious Traveller Grognards who seem to have forgotten that just because there is a new edition on the cards doesn't stop them playing their favourite iteration or even trying out the new build.

I woudn't dare go over there and impinge in their sensitivities.
