Traveller Pocket Issues

Hi Guys,

We have had some emails in regards to Mutiple symbols missing from the Traveller Pocket Rulebook.

I can only say that this is something that is strange considering the text is the same as the Main Rulebook text and the Main Rulebook seems unaffected.

Any ideas on why this might have happened please send a stamped addressed envelope to Mongoose HQ

(just kidding)

Anyway the problem is now fixed and the next batch should be full of Multiple symbols.

Can you specify? Is it the multiplication symbol that's missing? And if so, have the emails you've been sent cited page references?

I say this because I have a copy of the Pocket edition with me, and I can check mine if you wish.

We have been sent many emails with page references.

Basically the Mutiple symbol has been replaced with a blank space or in some cases an infinity symbol.

we have converted all known cases back to the multiple symbol.

feel free to post here (if you wish) all instances where you believe a symbol is missing and we'll cross reference them with all changes that have already been made.

there is always a small chance we could have missed one. but i am sure the emails we recieved were well informed so its unlikely.

Do you know if an updated version of the main rules PDF be made available at some point as well?

Will footnotes be included as well?

Question seconded.

MAtt said they were looking at making the footnotes available as a download for we early pocket purchasers.

A list of all the missing symbols would be good as well.

Actually it wasn't that much of a problem. If a blank space seemed like it needed an "x" then I just added it in my mind. :) Hey should I be tested for psionics?

@cbrunish, true, but it'd be nice to get an errata, and the missing footnotes are more of a problem. ANd Matt did say he'd look at getting at least the footnotes as a download for we pocket owners.

Only if you knew you'd need the "x" before you looked at it

(And if you filled in the footnotes with your mind power than you can go to the head of the line - but then you already knew I was going to say that!)

Yes, once I was aware of this issue, I found it fairly easy to do the substituion in my head.

Also as I had the Traveller PDF I printed out the footnotes half size and glued them in - I imagine putting the important missing footnotes (the ones that contain rules) in a pdf sized for the pocket version would be good for those who don't own the pdf.

And even the unimportant missing footnotes. C'mon Matt, you said you were looking at this.

Any news on the first printing errata, Matt?

I, for one, have got players complaining they are missing bits (Ancients, Amber Zones - unless they'r eelsewhere in the book, of course).

Hi guys,

If you have a look at the pocket Edition's page (http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/home/detail.php?qsID=1616), you will find not just the important footnotes, but all of them!

The direct link to the pocket book page is actually:

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/home/detail.php?qsID=1616&qsSeries=51

And the direct link to the download is:

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/pdf/travfootnotes.pdf

However Matthew, there is no indication of which footnote belongs on which page, such info would be useful, nay indispensable, to people who have the Pocket edition without having thee hardback. Perhaps you could update the pdf?

Later I'll also try and check the completeness of the footnote download.

Sorry to say this Matt but actually not all of the footnotes are in the download.

Upon carefl investigation, not only are some footnotes missing from the download when comparing the pocket to the Revised Hardback, there are two footnotes in the first hardback printing that aren't in the Revised Hardback or the Download for the pocket book.

I'm pretty sure I got this right but can someone please check since I missed the Navigation Skill for weeks in the original HB

Here is a list of the discrepancies I found in the footnotes in the various editions:

Revised Hardback and download missing Enemies, P.47 & Belt Mining on P. 59

Download and pocket missing Rivals on P. 83

Power plant out of sequence in download, should be after Stand down

Download and pocket missing Corporate Intrigue on P 145

Download and pocket missing Dangerous Cargo on P 164

Download and pocket missing Imperial Rules of War on P 176

Download and pocket missing "Any good bars?" on P 188

So while you're fixing that, can you add a page number reference for the footnotes in the download as well?

... please check ...
Wow - these have some intriguing titles! Thanks for passing along.

Having only the pocket edition - I can only say I did searches on the download and only found 2 *improbable* matches to your list:

...Belt Mining on P 59
"+++Mining drone 7 ... " in 5th box on pg 1 of download

...Corporate Intrigue on P 145
"+++The DeSalo corporation is hiring..." in 2nd box on pg 1 of download

These probably aren't what you are referring to. I don't recall seeing any of these in the Pocket Edition, but I will check (just to make sure they are not already there). And I'm assuming most will not be in the SRD (as many appear to be 3I related).

You are correct in your statement, those are entirely seperate non missing from the download footnotes.

Like I said the more worryingf thing is that the 1st print HB has 2 footnotes the revised HB (And by association the download for the pocket edition) doesn't. as well as the 5 missing from the ndownload that are in the revised HB.
