Traveller Little Black Books

Well if it works out that way - being more profitable - you should just see more books and a stronger market. One of your concerns early on. ;)

And, I don't recall any official mention of cost reasons for digest size, but that is irrelevant - publishers will do what they feel they must.

In the worst case for you - PDFs have flexibility to be printed - it may cost more and be less convient - but then again PDFs are often priced lower, and instantly available. Plus, you can print and bind it exactly the way you want - and are not limited to the publishers choice of paper, inks, binding or covers.

And with online publishers keeping track of your orders and the option to make personal offsite backups - little things like fires, floods and grandchildren don't have to potentially spell the end of your collection.

(P.S. - I assume those 4 years renovating the 172 Victorian included replacing the electrical - I love old homes, especially with lots of wood and character - but I have no pleasant things to say about their electrical.)

Yes the total service including the Ancient Nob and Tube wiring has been replaced and everything about the service to even the connection to the house has been upgraded and replaced to modern business standards.

I just love Plaster walls...<g>!

Well I just have my own "fears" about the LBBs is all guys!

We old timers just have these "fears" is all, so let this old timer amble away with his cane in hand<VBG>!!!

Good show! Older homes are often works of art and true craftsmanship - heck, I'm even embarrased for anyone to see my sheetrock grout - much less am I able to do plaster walls justice!

Hopefully Matt eased your fears about the LBBs...

=> On a Traveller note - historical electrical is a great concept to foster on older starships - all sorts of goodness from arcing exposed and overheating lines, to cracked and brittle insulation, power drains eating up normal fuel reserves and brownouts on the ship.

Geez - I hope my current ref in an online game doesn't read this! (Yeah - first time being a player in over 20 years - and we just got our ship - though all I've seen so far is rust, mold and records indicating no annual maintenance in over 3 years!)

I like the LBB and the size is nice for some of the material.

I also like the pictures that comes in the full/regular size books.

I am glad to see a publisher that is willing to print the material in different sizes for their customers to have a choice.

I think there is a good reason that Mongoose is still around and doing well.
Even with all the complaints others seem to have. ;)

Offering in a pocket size provides options - for both Mongoose and the consumer. I for one, would buy Mercenary in pocket size (lower price, preferred format, updated) - I won't in the larger size. I bought HG in the larger size (because that is what I am more interested in). If it comes out in the smaller size I will buy it again! I would not if it comes in the cumbersome, hard on the eyes, larger size.

LBB2: High Guard is already on the schedule for a June, 2010 release:

And let's face it, if you're like me and have been playing/collecting since the original LBBs, you want a nice big book for the gaming shelf/home game and the LBB for sneaking into work/sitting on the throne/reading while you wait for the kids to come out of school/carting around conventions etc.

Not to mention I have such a huge soft-spot for my LBBs - there's always room in my gaming bookcase for more. Well technically I need another bookcase but you get the point.
