Well, in the original GDW Traveller (CT), players had a "job for life" until they mustered out. Then, in the Real World, there was Job Rotation. Job Rotation precedes notions of a Gig Economy. Just that Gig Economy has more of a bad taste to it and has less guarantees for the employee.
