Traveller Evolution

Mongoose
I think this was mentioned in another thread but it warrants one of its own. A pre-painted Mongoose Traveller minatures game would be a great thing. TL 15 Impreial Marines, Zhodani, Aslan, mercs, grav tanks, all of that could be adapted easily and there's no lack of source material. I would buy (a lot of) it.

And if they can integrate Evo with a Traveller design sequence to create Striker Evolution then they'll be on to a winner.

The one thing that always held me back for Striker and Striker II was a lack of minis. Most everything I used was conversions of 1/72 scale Airfix kits. Pre painted stuff would be cool, especially if they mixed in some unpainted models too.

There has only been one evo game released so far genius. Don't know why you are saying 'games'. And the only reason BFE was delayed is that mongoose want to make it better quality and possibly cheaper for their customers.

If you want a train of crap just mass produced, GW is the best for ya.

Scalewise wouldn't a Traveller variant of BFE be more akin to Snapshot? Most Striker players I know would like a better handling of range and distance issues than BFE provides.

I know that last post was a little agro, but there has been a lot of heat over this evo thing here on the forums with two radically different opinion orientated members.

Also, the points I made were valid.

And now, duck billed mongoose officially have teeth.

I do agree with the sentiment though, it has been a long wait, and Anything Evolution would seem good right about now.

If we go with true to Striker it would be a 15mm game and probably wouldn't qualify as an "Evo". A game recreating Snapshot would probably be more a game of individual characters fighting (been many, many years since I've played Snapshot but I remember individual characters). If it happened a Mongoose pre-painted game would have to be some kind of hybrid. Maybe small-unit actions with scale and force sizes similar to BF: Evo, troops with a grav tank or 2 to back them up. Let the PGMP's rip. 8)

One interesting thing about MegaTraveller: given the pen and damage separation, MT scales nicely from individuals to regiments. I've handled combats from personal scale through regiments, including starships, using the MT combat system and minis. Oh, and unlike most, it handles them all seamlessly, and without forcing the units to be comparable sizes.

It's another source to look at for inspiration.

Sorry Mage, Yautja does kinda have a point doesn't he?
Something like this would be way way better handled in the manner Steeve Jackson games have handles Ogre, put out the rules set, get someone else to do the miniatures (Or better yet, use independant companies models like 5150 does!) and maybe put out a couple of boxes yourself.

The Evo system Matts already said will be completly prepainted, and follow the BF:E monthly release system, and thats the last thing a game like this would need.

The question is if they want to dip into a hotly contested market (between 40K, Urban War and their own SST as "the big boys" and 5150, Rezolution and whatnot as the small fish)

I'd buy a Traveller wargame book, but it'd have to be seriously nice to consider switching from Stargrunt.

As far as mini's, others may hold those rights. I wouldnt mind a new range of figures, but Im fairly certain the 'goose wouldnt do 15mm, making them incompatible with the old citadel stuff
