Traveller Compendium 1

Hi,

Has anyone bought a copy of Traveller Compendium 1 yet?

I've read the MgT blurb but I must ask.. has it got many adventures in it? I'm running short of adventures at the moment but that might be cured by me fully assimilating Spinward Marches, 760 Patrons and 1,001 characters

TIA,

Ian

Yes - this book has lots of excellent adventures in it ready to run!

This book also has lots of other stuff - but the bulk of the book is adventures! YUM!

One thing I really like about the new version of Traveller as compared to a recent version that is no longer published is Mongoose gives .pdf files away and then later on wants you to buy said .pdf files in a beautifully hardbound book - very nice!

I collect hardbound RPG books - especially the full color ones and Mongoose publishes some really nice ones! This is a must buy for any hardbound RPG collection!

Well, I wasn't too sure whether this book would be essential to my collection considering the material is available for free in S&P. I bought it anyway and I'm really glad I did.

Whereas the material is scattered through several editions of the on line magazine, this compendium has some really useful stuff all gathered together that I can have at hand at the gaming table in printed hardback form. 8)

I did page through it and saw some nice things. But it's $35 at my local hobby store, and I'm trying to justify spending that much money on a shoulda-been-a-softback book.

The jury is still out on if I will pick it up or not. It's not that I horribly mind spending money on hardbacks, but a) it better be worth it, and b) Mongoose has a horrible reputation thus far in their source books of having it full of typo's and other mistakes.

Not that their failures have prevented me from acquiring most of the Traveller books, however...

I sympathise with you. If money is tight then I'd recommend getting a friend to print the Signs & Portents articles for you. I mainly bought TC1 because there wasn't anything else to buy when I went into my FLGS. I don't regret it. Having the scenarios in one place with a smattering of useful articles I had overlooked proved it to be worth the purchase price.

a) Well, I have played the adventures as both printed from a computer and using the hardbacked Compendium 1. I like the hardback.
b) Mongoose typos/errors? No-one's perfect. Strangely enough I find that there are 3 things that keep me buying Mongoose stuff 1) their book replacement guarantee 2) Mongoose website and forums for support and 3) fan produced material for support.
