On page 52 of the 2nd addition core rule book, it says you must make an Education roll at 8+.
It is assumed you get to add your education stat to the role, for instance if you have Edu of 9, you add a +1, but if you have Edu 5, you get a -1 etc..
What about your skill?
If you have Recon 1 and want to train to Recon 2, do you get to add +1 to your roll as well?
Nothing in the training rules mention that fact. I'm assuming the answer is "yes" but I want to ask the guys who wrote the new rules.

I think it something like a concentration roll, so have nothing to do with the studied skill.

If anything I would use the skill level as a negative modifier, to make it harder to learn high skill levels.

It forms the basis from which you can advance to the next skill level, without affecting the process positively or negatively.
