Its trying to be a serious Sci Fi film.

So I says to myself - how could they possibly top the cheese-fest that was the original Total Recall, a story so barely based on the source material as to make Johnny Mnemonic seem like a scene by scene adaptation of a William Gibson story?
Turns out, they don't appear to be going in the same direction at all. And Colin Farrell in the lead role? I can't even remotely picture him as a kick-ass secret agent, so he's just about perfect for the role. I'll definitely see it - maybe not on the big screen, but I'll definitely see it eventually.

Seems like a lot of the fun is gone from this remake and that means the triple tits might be cut as well :evil:
I would have been more impressed if the Arnie role was played by the woman and they ran it that she underwent that fantasy trip to help get her mind off her faltering marriage only it turns out she had been an operative on Mars who had her entire personality changed to cover up some event before she met and married her husband.
The reason for the faltering marriage is that her former superiors' are trying to get her paired up with one of their operatives since he marriage caught them by surprise and her husband is aware someone is trying to split them up.
Given her habit of doing the unexpected this turn of events forces the pair on the run as they try to find out what actually happened to her and this leads them back to Mars where she's recognised as a double agent leading to them trying to stay ahead of both her former superiors' and the resistance but she still has some friends who believe in her enough to try and help them.
It would be nice if they try something new maybe that link will do better than the trailer i watched but it will be hard to top the Arnie version which is why it'll need some pretty big changes to have any chance of being better.

Total Recall is very much part of MTU and 2300U, as there are layers of suspicion and intrigue rife in both settings...along with ordinary people the chance to be heroes...and they do not need any Rekall corporation to help them do it.
I just regret this new one does not take them to Mars. However, I hated the end of other one...like all hard SF buffs.
