T'loth Construction

No. 1 Bear

Mongoose
Hi everyone, i recieved a narn fleet today and was wondering how the hell do you put together the T'loth. It just looks too fragie to hold. The only thing i was thinking of would be to mount each wing on a small base and have the central bit on a base aswell. This appears to be too much work though so i was wondering can people that have put it together let me know how you did it.

um, superglue... thats it, never fallen apart either. I mean ok, the base has snapped inumerable times, and the new stem has snapped out of the ship 3 times, but the wings have remained stuck well and truly ;-)

Alternatively, if you don't trust superglue, you could pin them without too much difficulty.

I used a glue that has a name of " Goo". It is sold in hobby stores, in particular model train stores. It is a tad messy, but if careful application is used it holds very well. I have assembled 2 of the T'Loth and both are still intact and no problems. Some I know have used Zap A Gap super glue with good results. As far as mounting, it is a balancing act. I use metal posts in place of the plastic ones. I make my own using nails cut to the heighth you want the model to be off the table. Hope this helps.

I stuck the wings on with Araldite Rapid and just held the blessed things together for about 10 min until it had set; at least, until they could stand on their own.

One thing I didn't like is that if built 'out of the box' the side wing sections 'toe in' at the tail. I think that's a sculpting mistake (from AoG, not Mongoose) due to the perspective of the first appearance of the ship in the 'Midnight on the Firing Line' episode. Later views of the ship in different episodes appear to show the side sections lie parallel to each other.

I put my T'Loth together very carefully. I painted each section first, then I glued one wing on by itself. After 24 hours, I glued the second one on. It's heavier than any other Narn ship I have... and it's all in those ginormous wings.

Also drill out a new hole for the flying base stem about half a cm in front of the specified little nubbin at the back of the hull. It is just more sturdy that way...

Good point. It is a bit heavy. Choose a better point of balance, then mount it using metal rod.

pin, superglue and greenstuff combo is very strong you may need to leave it 24 hours to cure due to the greenstuff.

Yup, a superglue and greenstuff combo does indeed rock. I have put a number of ships together this way and have yet to suffer a collapse. You just have to be careful putting things together, as it can get very messy fast.
