TL 15 FGMP, why pay more?

The TL 15 version of the FGMP does the same damage, has the same rate of fire and weighs the same as the TL 14 version, but costs four times more.

Why?

The TL14 version has a recoil of 2 where as the TL15 does not.

I understand what you're saying but there is a problem with the consistency of the table deisgn in that regard. Only the first iteration of the weapon has a full stat line. In some ways it's a cleaner layout but unfortunately leads to confusion such as this.

I take the layout to mean all FGMPs use the Ranged (rifle) band, not just the TL 14 one, all have a Recoil of 2, none of them use a magazine or have ammuniation costs.

Let me put it another way. Look at the entry for the TL 6 Rocket Launcher. Using your logic the TL 7 model beneath it has no recoil (true), it also has no mass and doesn't cost anything.

Bargain, I'll take a dozen.

Yeah it is as bit odd isn't it. Unless maybe the TL 14 version isn't grav-compensated (so it has recoil) but the TL 15 one is grav-compensated (so no recoil)?

So you agree with blackphoenix's interpretation of the chart, that the lack of an explicit value in a row equates to zero?

No (not that you asked me :D).

If that were the case, then the Rocket Launcher (right above the PGMP), at tech level 6, is 2000 credits, but free at tech level 7 and beyond.

In the old days, the difference between the FGMP-14 and the FGMP-15 was always that the earlier model had no gravitic compensator and so must be used with Battle Dress. The high cost of the FGMP-15 reflected the cost of the gravitic compensator, which allowed an un-armoured individual to use it. There were no differences in combat performance between the two.

The costs in MongTrav for these weapons have stayed the same as in CT, but the description on page 102 of the core rules seems to deviate from the cannon description (by making PGMPs Battle Dress only and FGMPs grav assisted), and as noted by the original post calls into question the reason why anyone would buy an FGMP-15 (which appears to offer no advantage over the FGMP-14 in the MongTrav universe).

Without having seen MongTrav Mercenary, I'd suggest this is an issue the editors should look at again.

Can anyone with a copy of nuMerc confirm if the FGMP is restatted in it?
