Hopefully the text is clearer on how accumulators work, can you take on accumulator energy from another source, etc. So long as they remain exotic tech with some significant drawbacks they won't terribly disrupt the existing game universe. But if they turn everything on it's ear, then yeah, I think like Erin says they belong in the optional tech chapter.

Matt - if collectors are in there to align to the stuff from T5 - there is a limit on what jump-drive they can power.
This wont immediately cause normal jump-drives powered by fuel to become obsolete. Collectors according to T5, when introduced, can only power a Jump 1 drive.
