Tips for playing Drakh in campaign.

Does anybody have any tips for playing Drakh in a campaign?

Player is experienced in ACTA but no experience with Drakh, so even "the obvious" may be useful ;-)

I have very little experience with Drakh, but since you want the obvious:

Get a Carrier. In any game with at least 4 Skirmish, don't just buy 4 Raiders; combine 4 Skirmish into 1 Battle, get the Carrier, then get the 4 Raiders anyway free with the Carrier.

Talking of Raiders, I have a vague memory from older forum posts that people who play Drakh seriously tend to prefer Light over Heavy. Its better Dodge rating makes it live longer, and although its weapon is only single damage, I would guess that its main job is to try to wear down the enemy with crits - larger ships such as destroyers, cruisers or even the Carrier can do the actual ship killing. And don't even think about taking Heavy Raiders if you're up against White Stars. :)

Raider swarms are the way to go. Good to have a mix of heavy and light. Heavies on their own will die to fighters, and lights on their own won't have the punch to take down big ships. Unfortunately you can/t close blast doors due to only having one weapon, but you can concentrate all fire.

Remember that raiders regenerate in a carrier, just like fighters do in a normal carrier.

And yes get a carrier for minimaxing goodness. You can always deploy it facing a table edge, not too close though! Launch Raiders, use it on All Stop as an initiative sink, then when it's getting shot at, retreat off the table. You give away a few VP's so check the victory conditions - in Annihilation for example this is irrelevant.

If you're facing Gaim or a Narn e-mine fleet then run away.

cheers guys,

we were wondering about regeneration of raiders etc... how/what do they get precisely?

Is it 1 raider per campaign turn or better?

Raiders are classed as single warships, not fighter wings. Seems to me that you'd have to buy replacements between campaign turns (and if you mean recover damage during a game, then I can't find anything that allows that for anything other than fighter wings).

I was going of Burger's comment:

i dont think i've ever known him to be wrong... :o .... unless this is a first Burger...???

I have been wrong many times :D

Yes Raiders do regenerate in a carrier, this was confirmed by Matt way back when. Follow the normal rules for how many fighters regenerate in a carrier - it's been a while so I can't remember off the top of my head :)

Another trick, you can squadron Raiders in a carrier if you like. Just make sure not to move more than 6" away from the carrier before the remaining squadron members are launched. If you do then the squadron will be broken before it is launched. A squadron of Heavy Raiders can really lay down the hurt.

And get the Raiders out quickly! If the Carrier takes a crit which knocks out a random trait, and that trait happens to be Large Hangars, the Raiders are stuck until it is repaired - which won't happen if it was a vital systems crit...
