You may be wondering what purpose this forum still has, what with the playtest forum area next door.

The answer is simple.

The old book hasn't ceased to exist. We can all still talk about it here, until the day when the playtest fora close down and disappear and everybody moves into this forum to talk about the new book.

And there will be the inevitable comparisons between v1 and v2, though hopefully no version wars.

So I'm going to maintain a presence here, and talk about the new book only on the playtest fora until the day they close down - which could be the day the non-beta release Core Rulebook formally comes out.

Traveller can still be discussed here. The playtest forum sections are just for stuff pertaining specifically to the second edition, lots of stuff can apply to both not just the 1st edition of the rules.

I've still got all of my old GDW LBBs. I wouldn't part with them for the world, even though I never use them.

I've got mine as well, sitting in the Deluxe Edition box on the bookshelf right next to the Mongoose Traveller books.

I have The Traveller Book just because players still ask me how it's played. I haven't played CT since 85.

I have every edition but GURPS Traveller and have cited them as reference to topics concerning Mongoose Traveller. I see no problem continuing this tradition with the New Traveller.

Yeah, how will we refer to the new Traveller edition. MgT 2.0?

Could do it like CT's '77 and '81 editions, i.e. MgT '08 and MgT '16 edition.....
