This may be a really dumb question, but...

I just read a particular thread concerning the boxed city of Shadizar. And a person by the nickname of Vincent Darlage said "Since I wrote it, I'm biased".

So that means that people that are actually working / used to work at Mongoose Publishing, hence the people that actually BUILT my Conan RPG game... Are on this forum, participating and discussing with players?

I've been at a bunch of RPG forums, and I thought myself lucky when I actually had a responce from someone who actually worked there once per month.

I really find it refreshing and totally AWESOME that folks who work at Mongoose actually hang out on this thing and chat it up with folks who pay money to use their products.

:D :D :D :D :D

Hi. Not my nick name. Real name. Use it for Facebook, twitter, etc. Check the credits of your books.

Anyway, I am a freelance writer. I write material for Mongoose, but not an employee (although I apply once in a while for staff writing position. Been turned down so far, which has worked out okay for me, actually).

Ultimately, I am the damned luckiest Robert E. Howard fan-boy ever. In real life I teach Accounting and Economics in Columbus, Indiana for a local college. I have a BS in Accounting, and an MBA.

I wrote the following books:

The Road of Kings
Across the Thunder River
Shadizar - City of Wickedness
Aquilonia - Flower of the West
Hyboria's Fiercest
Hyboria's Finest
Hyboria's Fallen
Tito's Trading Post
Stygia - Serpent of the South
Faith and Fervour
Ruins of Hyboria
Argos & Zingara
Shem - Gateway to the South
Return to the Road of Kings
The Player's Guide to the Hyborian Age.

I also wrote a secondary, bonus adventure for Lone Wolf volume 2 (Fire on the Water).

I wrote part of, or contributed to, the following:

Scrolls of Skelos
Pirate Isles
The Free Companies
The Compendium
Cimmeria
Khitai
Empires of the Hyborian Age
(Although uncredited, a lot of the monsters in the Bestiary comes from my work in the above books).

I am now working on an unrevealed project (Don't ask; I'm not sayin'). I'm happy to answer any other questions, however, about anything I have written. I've been following this forum since the original playtest for the original set of d20 Conan rules.

I like to hang out here to get feedback on the game. What works. What doesn't work. Whether I wrote it or not. It helps me put out a game you guys like - and that I like.

Although I am happy to answer questions about my work, I usually don't give reviews of my work. I don't want to sound like a fan-boy for myself. If you read around on the forum, you can quickly find out my favourites of my own stuff are the two Road of Kings books and Across the Thunder River, however I'll not say they are better than anyone else's books (I really like Mr. Kalvar's work on Pirate Isles, for example. I think that is better than anything I have written).

My email is also available on a button at the bottom of the post. I answer that, too.

And, to top it all off, I also play the game. I have been playing RPGs since 1983. I was introduced to AD&D by my uncle when I was 13. My uncle also introduced me to Conan the same year, loaning me Conan The Adventurer (Lancer/Ace) and Conan the Usurper (also Lancer/Ace). I spent the rest of that summer going around to flea markets to assemble the rest of the series. I was hooked.

While attending IU (Indiana University, Bloomington) for my Accounting Degree, I started collecting rare REH books. I also acquired a complete set of Marvel Conan comics, including Savage Sword of Conan.

Anyway, I am one of the luckiest people around because, for whatever reason, Mongoose chose me to write for the game I love to play.

BTW, Bryan Steele (Bestiary, Cities of Hyboria, Warrior's Companion, et.al.) and Lawrence Whitaker (Cimmeria, Khitai, et.al.) also post here sometimes.

Probably the coolest part of the Mongoose forums is the frequency that the authors show up here. And not just Conan. I post on Traveller, and Runequest as well, and often you will hear from an author within a day.

If you have been hanging out at an unnamed forum that recently released a uncool 4th edition, you know that is pretty rare. So to is the general level of civility.

OMG!!!

But I have to agree. Mongoose has become one of my favorite publishers. It's nice to hear from the authors of the books. Especially if you don't understand something. They are always quick to respond and clear something up. Nice. :D

It would be funny indeed if we found out that we are all game designers. :D
