The Visitors - "V"

I've brought this up a long time ago but the thread seems to have disappeared....

...but what about that timeless eighties classic, "V"? Diana, Willie, Donovan...c'mon, you all know you loved it. :)

I agree! I would love to see an RPG based on this series. Oh by the way there is a new novel in this series out. I know I've already got my copy of it. It is a present day update.

I believe that the new book by the creator of the show, V: The Second Generation has come out now and there are plans on making a TV series based on it.

Anyway yeah was a good setting. Humans versus Bipedal Visitor Reptilians who can masquerade as Humans.

I just finished watching the end of this old series from the eighties on the sci/fi channel.

Despite my love for the series. There are some glaring oversites made by the creators.

One of which is, why bother with the pretending be human when they were discovered and exposed on live teleivsion to be reptilian.

They always continued to keep the human skins well into the series right through to the end.

Remember the blonde head lizard fellow ( Forget his name.) who was member of the Fifth Column. Who died in the second series ( I think.) from the red powder. Anyway, his twin brother returns within the last few episodes. Of course this lizard is merely wearing the same human skin ( Well it's the same actor.) alot lizards already look alike, the actors chosen to portray them for the sole benfit of being able to tell them apart.

Though, dosen't it seem strange that he was wearing the same disquise his brother was, simply because they were twins.

I also thought it was weird how the visitersy had started out with strange sounding voices and by the end middle of the series their voices were normal again.

Personnally, I thought they should have inserted some hissing into their speech.

The lizard people were terrible at melee.

Lizards were easly defeated once the human masks were ripped off. Often falling on the ground in eleptic seisure.

of course they also found each other sexy when they wore human disguises - wioth lots of makeup and hair spray :D

technically only the original mini series and its sequal the final battle count as cannon to the storyline (and some dont even count the final battle as so) so u can ignore the crappy tv series altogether, the new novel does and the story is better for it, i believe the guy who wrote the novel only had imput on the original mini series as he was fired when he voiced some complaints about the scripts for the final battle which is why its not quite as good as the original.

If MGP does decide on this please keep it with the original series as the background, not the pathetic excuse for V that the new series is.

I do like the old V, the cool red outfits and i though the laser rifle effects was real looking..

I have been watching the new v, its good in different ways, but its not going to be like the old v with alien checkpoints etc...

Is this not the area covered by the upcoming Codename: Veil?

I hadnt thought about that, but it could be used that way pretty easily.

The reason why I said re-look at it for the new "V" is that I"m pretty sure there are a lot of people who don't know about the original "V" in the first place. I just turned 40, it seemed I was a kid when it first came out.

If anything, look at both series and wait for the new technology that will be incorporated in the new series. With cell phones, ipods and the internet being easily tracked and monitored, creating resistance cells will be harder than ever.

My two cents on why we should look at the old and the new.
