The Traveller Release Schedule

We have had lots of emails and a few forum posts asking pretty much the same thing - 'where is X for Traveller, eh?'

When we started work on the new edition of Traveller, we made a decision that books would go to print only when we felt they were ready and the Design Schedule we had in the office would be a set of guidelines rather than deadlines. Predictably, books now take longer to produce - however, we also feel their quality has soared over the past year. Happy with this process, we are going to continue it into 2017.

However, that still does not answer the question - where is all the cool Traveller stuff? Well, we have not been idle...

We have crunched through a few projects recently, burning the midnight oil, and we have brought Hannah on board, a new full-time graphical person (Referee's Briefing 4: Mercenary Forces was her very first publication and, I think you will agree, she hit the ground running!). We have also been busy beavering away on the writing and editorial side of things, and we can now announce a brand new release schedule for Traveller that carries us into 2017. You can find it here:

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/releaseschedule

So, how reliable is this schedule, you will want to know!

As with all schedules, the further you go into the future, the more like fiction it becomes. The one question mark I have is the new Pirates of Drinax mega-campaign set. This set is a Big Ask overall (one 200 page book, one 256 page book, and a huge poster map, all in glorious full colour) and it is going to suck editorial and graphical resources like they are going out of fashion. However, we have also done a lot of prep work already on it.

Everything else though... is looking pretty good for those dates!

Sad to see the Vehicle Handbook pushed so far back, but you gotta do what you gotta do to make it awesome. Thank you for the update, sir ^_^

Well, it will be with us soon enough now and, I promise, it is ten times better than it would have been had we released it before Summer!

(there is some seriously nice stuff in that book :))

No starter set for Christmas :(

We did try our best for that, but between a choice of making it good and getting it out for Christmas... well, I think you know what we will do!

You could still do a Bundle of Holding - style release of Traveller goodies for Christmas: 2E Core Rulebook + High Guard + Central Supply, or 2E + all the Referee's Briefings + all the Adventures so far, or Drinax + Secrets + 2E or some such. All PDFs, sure, but they'd make nice gift sets, especially say for someone who's wanting to start with Traveller but has not had the budget for it.

Could we clarify what all of the different Pirates products are - there are LOADS scheduled!

Only the first one has a print release listed.

What are these?

I was waiting for someone to ask that :)

Alongside the (frankly colossal) Pirates of Drinax campaign set, we are releasing a host of electronic support material to expand the campaign and help referees out. For example, Ship Encounters is a (big!) set of pre-created ships for players to pirate (along with adventure hooks, so they are not 'just another merchant'. Gods of Marduk expands one of the patron encounters in the campaign into a full adventure, as does Revolution and Friends. Theev and Torpol Cluster flesh out worlds the players are likely to visit.

None of this is necessary, but we think it will greatly enhance the campaign!

So excited for all of these! My ongoing campaign will probably be in the end stages by the time these are out though.
I guess I'll have to run it again for a new group...

Not sure if this belongs here or not, but do we have a timeframe for the Traveller Companion that is hinted at in the core book? Even if it's 'Q3 2017' vague. It's the next book I'm super excited about (after the Vehile Handbook).

I agree with this thought. I too am excited thinking about what treasures might be found in such a book. Options and ideas that have just been hinted at alone make me curious. :D

I can't see anything on the release schedule for 2300AD, is there anything in the works for that?

There is indeed, we just need to get a few more ducks in a line for that and we will reveal all!
