The Titan Graphic Novels

Hello,

I know this isn't about the rpg, but its still about Dredd.

I now own all the Titan Graphic Novels, (I bought them pretty much all at once)

Can anyone recommend an order for them? I figure all the Classic ones would be before Death Aid and such.

I could just go through them all and check what issues they reprint, but Im willing to bet that someone knows the order.

I hear that the new Judgement Day is after Necropolis 2.

Thanks for your help.

The best place to find this is on the 2000ad main website:

http://www.2000adonline.com/?zone=dredd&page=timelines

The timeline is 6 years behind the current storyline though. Total War is set in 2127 I believe, but this is brand new in the comic and has not been made into a GN yet.

The great thing about the books is that it doesn't matter which order you read them in, but you are correct the Judgement Day follows on immediately after Necropolis, and both of those stories are fairly recent compared to things like The Cursed Earth, The Apocalypse War, etc.

I'm not sure what you've got (I don't collect the TPB's, as I've got everyting in the original progs!), but the usual order goes:

The Cursed Earth

The Day The Law Died (aka The Judge Cal Saga)

Judge Death

The Judge Child Quest

Judge Death Lives!

Block Mania

The Apocalypse War

City of the Damned

Oz

First Democracy Stories

Necropolis

Death Aid

Democracy Now!

America

Judgement Day

Mechanismo

Wilderlands

The Doomsday Scenario

Dredd vs. Aliens

Total War!

There's also a few important Judge Anderson stories that fit in (The Dark Judges between City of the Damned and Oz, Hour of the Wolf, Triad and Shamballa between the first democracy stories and Necropolis)

2126 - the Dredd year is always 122 years ahead of the present year.

Interesting, I never noticed that before. Thanks for the correction :)

I was sure I had seen 2127 in a recent issue, but I must be mistaken.

General consensus on best Dredd story arc of all time is Apocolypse War. Might want to read Block Mania first though as it is the immediate lead in to it.

It depends which version of the book he has... mine has Blockwar in the same GN as the Apocalypse War so it's good to go.

Acutally the general consensus on the best Dredd story arc of all time is America. But then again Dredd only has a slight part in that, though it was voted fan favourite two years running on the official 2000AD website :D

Personally I love both stories, though my favourite is Song of the Surfer which I challenge any comic fan not to get a lump in their throat by the final panel

They are all great, and very powerful stories. Judgement Day falls right in there as a strange, but thorough story, with great art, and some strong provocations to certain feelings. Each book has it's own way of making you feel, and you won't have a lump in your throat at the end of Judgement Day, but you will be satisfied.

I organized all my Titan trades and figured out their order (mostly)

A bunch of them pretty much happen at the same time. (Muzak Killer, Justice One, and Emerald Isle for example)

But I got them roughly in order now.

Im bummed that the Judge Rico stories were never reprinted by Titan. Maybe DC will do it. I really want to know that story.

Hmm, I'll have to look back through my collection but I thought that was covered in one of the series... either the "Complete" series or the "Chronicles". I can't remember while at work, but I'll try to look that up later.

Still, Apocalypse War is a classic. "The Complete Apocalypse War" is the book which includes Block Mania. One of my favourites.

The Apocalypse War I have is the one reprinted by Titan Books (Black hardcover with a single pic in the middle of the cover).

It includes Block Mania. I haven't read most of my Dredd trades as I just got them recently. I plan on reading The Cursed Earth this weekend.

Speaking of trades, now that DC is releasing AD2000 trades, are they going to release the same ones but with a different cover that Titan released?

I picked up Judgement Day from them because Titan never did that one, and my Batman/Judge Dredd trade is on its way in.

Actually after all that rambling, Im going to go ask on the DC message boards.

But here is another question about Judge Dredd merchandise? Is there any decent Dredd posters? I looked online and all I can find is the poster of the Judge Dredd movie.

Thanks,

I hope that helps.

I've got a question about the newer reprints of older material: Are the first two pages in color or do they still do a black and white transfer?

Reason I ask is because my copy of the Complete Oz is all black & white.

Sidenote: I seem to have lost my very old copy of City of the Damned. Think it had a Sienkovich (completely wrong spelling) cover. This sucks.

I actually still have a Dredd door poster from the mid 80s. Brian Bolland full length Dredd. About 5 feet by 2 1/2 feet or so.

Thanks for the additional info.

I can't believe they are re-releasing a Dredd and Death story again. I think the characters are great, but I have so many stories of them already. If this is a new story, then I'll probably pick it up anyway, but I have a feeling it'll be a reprint of an existing GN, and will therefore not sell that well.

I also haven't heard of 13 before... but hope it'll be a Dredd story :)

As for whether they print in black and white or color them... the ones I have so far appear to be printed just as they were in the comic.

Arabin

Well, old 2000AD stuff was mostly black & white. Only the cover and the center 2 pages were color (almost always Dredd). So that's why I was asking.
